Hi Pam. I am not even sure which dat this is, but am wondering if it is a triple. IF it is, the very middle of the flowers are not coming out like they should. I can see two layers, but the purple in the middle seems to be staying where it is. Is this normal, or shoudldthere be more flower in the middle? I'll try to take a pic tomorrow.

I was going to say it looked like a triple to me too. It should open up a lot more than your pic is showing.

What beautiful blooms Glenda! I've never seen Datura in bloom before. --Ginny

She is exquisite Glenda and I love the colour. For sure we want to see a picture when she's in full bloom.

Wow! Amazing flower, and such a vibrant colour. I obviously made a mistake when my seelings died and I didn't try again

I picked up seeds of the double-triple type this summer...can't wait to plant them the spring...those flowers are too much!

Very pretty Glenda. Did they ever open up any more? Wonder if you can get seeds? if the insects can't get at them?

Victoria, BC(Zone 8b)

Glenda can really grow Daturas, she's got a real green thumb for them. I can't grow them for a hill of beans.

Glenda, that bush is breathtaking. Congrats.

Your dat is just stunning. I think it is a triple also. I didn't have any success with my seedlings this year, but had a couple of plants self seed from last year, they are just a single white, and I don't remember growing any single whites last year. Did you get seed pods form it?

Glenda I think our daturas are sisters.

Too much. Guess I'll just HAVE to break down and grow one next year. Maybe two. Saw a yellow beauty at Wilmas earlier in the year. Your purple one really is TDF> Thanks for showing us.

This was the plant as of last night. I am a bit disappointed in the flowers, as I think they are not actually coming out as a triple. The very inside seems to be just staying put. Not sure if that has anything to do with it being much cooler at night now???

Close up of a flower. A lot of the white seems to be turning brown just about before the flower even opens.

I wonder if it is like the one Brug you had Glenda and it has too many points (too large a flower trapped inside)? What are your temperatures like there now?

p.s. from peeps I have talked to they *think* Eston got a *lot* of rain.....have you heard anything?

North Saanich, Canada

Pam, it is certainly cooler now. Only 16 or 17 during the day, but sunny. Not sure what it gets down to at night!
I actually havent' heard from anyone in Eston. I'll have to give our friends a call and see what is happening. We still have two sections of land that get farmed, and our renters seem to have trouble communicating with us(THEY JUST DON'T-for some reason). It would be nice to know if we had a crop this year!! Will let you know.

DF is awaiting the same messages from his.....they have been out on the fields an awful lot lately so might take awhile (phone at midnight???).

that purple has awesome punch for color - mine was a triple this year as well but not as intense a purple.
