Hi, I am in the process of reconverting a nice 8 x 14 chicken house, back to being a chicken house again. I am interested in raising preservation type poultry, one breed only, and am looking for suggestions.
I am interested primarily in modest egg production, but am even more interested in having interesting and happy chickens running around. I live on the edge of a settled village but have plenty of room for them and will be able to fence them in. The only concern that I have is that, as I live in way upstate New York it gets pretty cold here in the winter so I don't want chickens that will suffer for it.
So...good personality, appealing looks, hardy...any suggestions?
