I have boxes that I've watered by hand using a sprinkling can. The boxes themselves are small at, 8 feet long by 6 inches deep and 6 inches wide. I have them situated in such a manner that the box at the top is about 5 feet from ground level. To look at the six rows of boxes, they look like bleachers. It's very hard to water that top box.
I would like to use something that will water the long boxes and thought of using a soaker line. I'm not sure what I need and where to find what I need. I live in Canada and would like to buy what I need from Canada. I would buy from the States, but when things are sent using UPS, who always go thru Customs, I end up paying more for Shipping and Customs, than whatever it was that I purchased. For Example: I bought a digital scale to weigh vegetables at my market for $9.95 on ebay. By the time I paid the person for shipping, and then UPS and Customs charges, the total amount I paid for the scales was $78.37 US Dollars. I vowed, "Never again." I just can't afford it.
I also have Tomatoes I grow in containers. I have the containers all in a row and need something that will water them. I think these need, "Drip" irrigation. Soaker Hose for the boxes and Drip for the containers. Right?
I read something someplace, where I need a "Preasure" regulator?
I'm probably making this sound more complicated than it is, but I'm sort of lost in it all.
I'd sure appreciate a helping hand here.
Thanks
Darrell
Drip lines & soakers
Hi Darrell.. (that's exactly how my brothers name is spelled)
I noticed when I was looking for soaker hoses ...that there were some deals on EBAY ...from Canada. I think there is even a section of Canada Ebay....looked like there were some things worth a look.

I use gravity to feed my plants - put the nutrient tank only 2 feet above the highest tub, with 1/4 inch tubing from the tank to the plants. Any kind of tank works - I installed two bulkhead valves, one to drain out for cleaning, and one that goes to the plants.

Hey there Elaine - your site is very informative and thank you! I've so hesitated to post here on Hydroponics because we're going to be really newbies at this whole thing.
The new home we're building will have the capacity to do it properly if we can just learn enough. We're looking forward to a whole new realm of gardening for leafy greens and herbs. Again, thanks !!
