Some of you know that I am a former resident (many years ago) of Victoria and Port McNeill B.C. For some strange reason the flurry of picture posting going on here lately has made me nostalgic for my old home's charms.
I can remember in Victoria....seeing the Dogwoods in full glorious bloom....waiting for the ships to come in to the harbour and trading with the foreign sailors (using gestures as most did not speak English) for items from their homeland....watching the sunset ceremonies at the parliament buildings....browsing the wonderful shops in Chinatown....often just walking through the Empress Hotel and letting my imagination go....spending hours at a time in Beacon Hill Park....
I can remember....when the main highway only went as far north as Campbell River, where your two options for going further were either taking the ferry (a notoriously rough crossing) or driving the logging roads (where the logging trucks were king and you better get out of their way)....going to one of the small lakes on the island with a group of friends and spending the day, the evening, and the whole night just talking and connecting with the land, watching the sun go down and come back up again....walking through the old growth forests, marvelling at how truly majestic they were and how they filtered the sunlight to cast an almost living green glow over everything....how, no matter where you went, you were surrounded by mountains....walking the beaches at low tide, spending hours looking at the strange, beautiful, never seen before creatures left behind in the tidal pools....
I could go on and on and on :-) Would some of our BC members mind indulging me with a few photos?

Would you post some pictures of Vancouver Island B.C.?
Ohhhhhhh! The beach in Sooke - been there many times and it does bring back memories. That view from Beach Drive in Oak Bay is also very familiar to me. Thank you so much Glenda. You're wonderful :-) --Ginny
That's about all I can find right now Ginny. Enjoy!

Thanks again Glenda, for taking the time to indulge my sentimentality. I have enjoyed these pictures - very much! --Ginny

Most definitely interested. Thank you.
Great pictures Sandy!!!
Thanks Glenda. I've only had a digital camera for a couple of years so most of my outdoor pictures are of kayaking, since I haven't done so much hiking in the last few years. I used to have pictures of nothing but mountains. lol
I love my digital camera and I certainly don't use it enough!!! I guess a person should really just carry the camera with them all the time, but that would involve remembering, and remembering can get to be a problem as you get older!!! LOL
I didnt' take my digital camera with me when I went to Ontario this summer, and of course wished I would have. I just took my old 35 MM, and the pictures are fine, but I would have taken a lot more with the digital.
I am heading outside right now to take a few, as hubby and the neighbour are tearing the yard upoand installing drain pipes, and my yard looks a horrid mess!! Must keep pictures of these things for down the road when you can look back and say, Oh my god!!! What a mess!!!
Glenda
Thank you Sandy, your pics are gorgeous! Wow, I never expected so many. I thought if I was lucky maybe one or two people might post a couple of pics each. The thoughtfulness of the people out here on this forum never ceases to amaze me. --Ginny
