If I am no wrong that is the Texas Star Hibiscus!! Have tried to start one from seed and so far no luck. There are some offered at ebay not too expensive. I might just have to get them!! Very nice! Bonnie

Bonnie, I thought about a Texas Star first too... but my Texas Star's petals are not as close together more of a "Star" shape ....

Texas/Okla central b, United States(Zone 7b)

Texas star actually has star shaped petals....pointed toward the ends........This, if it is true red, is more than likely a Lord Baltimore..the leaves on mine look like a marijuana plant, just now beginning to bloom here....Yours is beautiful

This is a Texas Star Hibiscus. Note the shape of the leaves (many people mistake this for marijuana plants). Jenny

Not yet but I'm sure I look suspicious..... I live on a dead end road in the country with a small greenhouse next to a little shop, and my basement lights are always on .... LOL
