Susan (nightbloomer54),
It looks like the H. pottsii you sent to me might be getting ready to bloom.
Jennifer
H. pottsii
Oh Jennifer, that's so cool! You are having a fun "first year" with hoya aren't you?
I'm happy to have been your "enabler"!
Susan
Congratulations!! Just keep the soil moist, don't let it dry out or the buds will blast. I love this hoya. It has a wonderful scent & the blooms last about a week. They will fade faster if gets more bright light/sun. Just from my experience, since I only kept mine indoors but when I had it near a sunny east window, the blooms faded faster. Then I moved it to another east window that was shaded & the blooms lasted a week or more.

I'm so very excited. I didn't expect to get flowers so soon. I'll have to ask DH which direction these are facing. I'm still not very good at that. I've been told this is a great smelling hoya. I can hardly wait to see for myself.
I have a couple of cv of Pottsii, and they have never bloomed. Then someone said they are HARD to get to bloom, so I gave up & just thought I would enjoy them for their lovely folage anyway. Now I am wondering if they really ARE hard to bloom, or if it is just ME??? What are you guys thoughts on this variety and it's many cvs.
Marcy
H. pottsii is easy for me. Blooming fools! I can't get H. cinnamomifolia, H. fraterna, or H. diversifolia to bloom.
Wrong pic. This one is much clearer....
To me that could be verticillata... Nice colour! AND cute cat in the background!
Christina
Thank you, Christina. And Scruffy thanks you too. He's a beautiful cat, but will only let me pet him for short periods of time. I guess he might be a bit of a snob. lol
This is one of the three hoyas that Susan (nightbloomer54) sent to me. I just love all of them.
Can you photograph the leaves? Flowers do look like H. verticillata.... ?
Hi Jennifer! Having fun? Glad this blasted hurricane is gone. I am ready to move somewhere, cooler and .....it's hard to be a water lover and decide to move inland.
Susan
I'm having lots of fun. It's very exciting that two of my hoyas that you sent me have already bloomed.
I know it's must have been hard for you to have to move. We've been watching the news, because we both have family down that way. My husband's daughter lives in Pasadena, and I have cousins in Houston, Katy, Humble, and Lake Charles. It's very scary. I'm glad ya'll made it out alright. As far as I know, our families are well. Tx didn't get hit as hard as first predicted. Have you been able to get back home yet? Have you decided where you want to move, and when?
Susan, I know just the place for you. Sweden is surrounded by water and it's cooler than TX. I live right by the ocean. Hurricanes are not common here.
Christina
EH, Christina...does that leaf look like H. verticillata to you?....
But remember, Susan...they have all day summers and all night winters....and as lovely as the Swedes are......
Hawaii on the other hand.....
Carol
I don't know... Pottsii, verticillata... Some of these look so alike! And SMELL alike too!
Susan, Hawaii is NOT cooler than TX (not that I have been to either place, but...). Carol got it all wrong. Here in the very south we have "normal" summer days and "normal" winter days. It's all the way up north that they have all day summer and all night winter. From here I have about the same distance to southern Italy and northern Sweden.
Christina
Christina...you are so lovely!!!
Carol
