I never knew how much I didn't know untill I tried to learn. Now I know that I don't know a dang thang.
See I have this Hibiscus, and when I was trying to figure out which one it was and how not to kill it, I discovered what I always knew as Rose Mallow was really Hibiscus. I always thought if the stem was green it was Rose Mallow, brown equals Hibiscus. But then I read the whole hardy/non-hardy business. So now I don't have a clue what it is that I wanted to plant next year, let alone where to find it.
So where is the Hibiscus for Dummies book? Can anyone recommend a good beginner's website?

As usual, I'm confused, lol.
Looks like shiny leaves, therefore tropical as opposed to hardy.

Careful, this can become addictive and you may need to join HA.
Oh Nooooooo!
PotUmUp, thanks for those links...BUT...You are evil, evil I tell ya!! I had to go grab another divider for my notebook. Yup, I started another "want" catagory. I should probably just start a list of plants I don't want. Ha!
I was so innocent before I joined DG, content to browse the local nurseries and occasionally order from a catalog. Now I've seen what I don't have, and I WANT IT ALL!!!
"Careful, this can become addictive and you may need to join HA." Too late, I'm trying to decide what to pawn so I can buy Bubble Gum Fun & Over The Rainbow!
*mutters*..DG should come with a warning label....

mg I am in the same boat as you. Everytime I see something I think I have to have it. I use to be happy with rose moss and petunias, but now I have brugs, EE's, Nana's, rice paper plant and a lot of those things that aren't hardy to my zone. I don't even have a green house. My DH did say to start looking around for one. He is starting to come around. What am I going to do. I have about 25 tropical Hibiscus to overwinter, already have brugs in the house in bubbler's that are about 2ft tall, and I haven't even started cutting back from my ones that are outside. There is more that I want.
I think I need some professional help. I still have a plant want list. Help I need to stop somewhere.

"Stop"? What is this "Stop" that you speak of?
There is a "Stop" sign right before I turn to go to my favorite garden store, that is how I remember where to turn.
"Hello, My name is Gayle. I am addicted to plants." And it's all Daves fault.
