Finally a clear shot!!!

You would think that I won the lottery. I am so excited. I have been trying for weeks to get a good picture of my hummingbirds. I finally had a patient model that worked with me, LOL!

Kauai-It looks like that little lady said "Now I'm going to just sit right here and be still so you can show my best side to the folks on DG."
I love the picture -thanks for sharing.

It was giving me the eye, LOL. Here is a shot of the pretty green coloring on its back!

Looking good- little fellow or girl! Do you think it's a female or an immature male?

I have no clue on how to tell!

I belong to a bird club and we study birds, their migration, and all facets of their life so I know a little about Ruby-throats. If you look very carefully, and see a miniscule patch of red on the throat, it is probably an immature male. I can't see this in your pictures, so it may be a female. But males that size before starting to develop the red throat. So just keep an eye on "it" and see what happens.
P.S. I went back and looked at your last picture-I see a few greenish feathers at the throat. These may turn red or be red and I can't tell that from the picture. Just watch and find out.

Thanks for the info. I know for sure that we have 1 that has a red throat!

Great shots! It sure is hard to get them to sit still for their picture being taken!
