CulebraAnybody have cuttings??

Laurens, SC(Zone 8a)

Anyone have Culebra cuttings for trade (Dr Suess, Frosty Pink or Sunray are what I have left) or for postage?? (Or I have a couple of throws that I crocheted last year that I am willing to trade one of for a cutting!! One is Red and the other is Purples. Big enough to wrap around your lap while watching tv! Or if anyone want to buy one?? $25 includes shipping.) I JUST saw a photo of it in the thread Info On Culebra and would love to have one since I have none with those type of leaves on them!! PLMK!! Thanks!! Bonnie

Bonnie, I have one but all the cuttings are spoken for. I'm going to put it in the ground, then see if I can bubbler a cutting to root and try sand, which will leave me zero. If I do get something to root, down the line I'll be happy to share. BTW, if I kill mine, I will buy a new one, I'm intrigued by Culebra and cannot see why it won't winter in the ground and I surely hope it will...

Seems like it should survive in the ground there--with a bit of protection to make it more likely. I have to protect mine every year. A few inches of pine straw and for good measure I like to cover the pile of needles with a clay pot!! Don't always have clay pots to go around though!! Need to look for some at yard sales or something! hehehe Thanks for the offer for maybe next Spring?!! Bonnie

xomed28, is yours in the ground and did you leave it out in the winter?? How did you root your cutting?? Thanks!!!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Mine is in a big pot. It was given to me. I have had it about 3 months. I will be taking it inside this winter. I broke a piece off and put it in some potting soil and it rooted.

Thanks!!!

xomed28 Ok--so when you say small you mean SMALL!! hehehe It is still ok since it is rooted!! Thanks!! Bonnie

It is about 4 to 6 inches tall. But it is rooted.

I'm amazed, I think 4 to 6 inches is great, my plant is about 20 inches tall, with three 'towers'. I'm a bit reluctant to try to root until the weather is a bit cooler. Waddayathink???

I think I would wait.I live in FL and it had been raining alot and had cooled down some. It was a accident about the piece that broke off. I just put it in a pot just to see if it would root . I had been reading how hard it was to root .So I just thought I would give it a try.Good luck.

How nice you are, xomed, thank you so very much. I figured it was hard to root, I guess because I like it so much. I cannot imagine why/how the silly thing lived and now I've become attached - I would love to see a Y, a bud and a bloom. Are they fragrant??

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I haven`t ever seen one flower and I do not know if they are fragrant. So, I will be waiting also. I have wanted this one for a while and a friend gave it to me. I will let you know if mine blooms before yours.

Is this the first year for both of you having this Brug?? Just wondering why they still have no Y's--haven't flowered?!! hmmm.... Plenty of water?? Fertilizing at least once every other week?? Afternoon shade??

Yes Bonnie, I have only had it about 3 months. Thanks for the info. I know JT and Jim was at the Spring GA/RU. I am not sure if he remembers me. I got the plant from Delisa.
