I joined a few months ago and didn't see this forum for some reason. Better late than never, I guess!
I'm a dental hygienist that 'retired' a couple of years ago, only doing subbing now. That left me more time to spend doing lots of things like gardening! My mom is thrilled, because she's always been into it and is now a Master Gardener. We can share trips to flower shows, flowers, seeds, advice, etc. It's so much fun!
I'll be 48 next week, and my husband of 30 years and I will be going to Chicago next weekend, to attend a geocaching picnic. If you don't know what geocaching is, I'll just let you visit http://www.geocaching.com and let them explain it! HA! We really enjoy the places that geocaching has taken us and the adventures we've had. Caching got me interested in wildflower identification, since many times the caches are placed in nature preserves and state parks. Is anyone else here into it?
I'm also an editor for Today's Cacher magazine. There is an online version: http://www.todayscacher.com as well as a print edition.
We have two daughters, ages 23 and 25, and they're both out on their own now. Not married yet, no kids. We also have a dog and 7 cats. Yes, SEVEN! Two are indoors, the others are outdoors. Four of them were rescued by us last summer when someone dumped them off down the road from us, and we couldn't leave those teeny little babies there to die. They're adorable, and though we didn't want that many cats, we love them to pieces.
I love to read and have a book going all the time. Some of my favorite authors: Elizabeth Berg, Barbara Kingsolver, Anita Shreve, Janet Evanovich, John Grisham.
We live out in the middle of nowhere - well, not really - it just seems that way to everyone else. LOL.
I guess that's enough for now! :-)
Hello from Northwest Ohio!
kbaumie--welcome to DG. Always delighted to have another Ohioan here. There are quite a few from the Buckeye state posting here, but we always love one more. BTW, where is Haviland? lol t.
Why does no one know where Haviland is???? Could it be because it has a population of 175? LOLOLOL. It's about 10 miles north of Van Wert, or about 25 miles east of Fort Wayne, IN. Paulding county.
I've never heard of geocashing before. It sounds a bit confusing but very interesting. Welcome to Daves Garden!
Welcome kbaumie. I know you'll love Dave's Garden. I haven't been a member for that long but sure do enjoy it. Try to find a Roundup in your area. So much fun! I had never heard of Haviland either and came to your posting because I lived many years in Bowling Green OH and thought you might be near there. Looking forward to seeing your posts in the future.
Nancy
Yes, I'm near Bowling Green. Sort of. LOL. That's about an hour away, in a northeasterly direction.
My user name is kbaumle, not kbaumie. So many people see it with an 'i' though! I get that a lot. I wonder why? Not a problem, I just wonder why. :-)
Kylee
Hi kylee welcome. lots going on here. enjoy. name is it your last name ?of course with out the k..
Yeah! :-)
Hey Kbaumie, I thought I did a cut and paste and it still turned out wrong. Sorry about that. My last name is Schuetz and believe me, I'm used to having my name spelled wrong.
Nancy
Oh, I know what you mean! Both my first and last name get misspelled a LOT! You get used to it! :-)
Well, I guess it was I who was the misspeller. My eyes are not that great and the 'l' did look to me like an 'i'. So sorry about that. Now everybody's doing it!
So that makes a little more sense--is that a german name, then, since you are around Van Wert?
We had an RU here in Cincinnati in spring and hope to have another one somewhere next year...maybe your house?! Like I said, always glad to have a new member! t.
