Oh, Lisa - absolutely beautiful! You are truely blessed to have so many beautiful plants. Thanks for sharing.

Louisville, KY

I love this plant. Though they call it a blue ginger its actually not a ginger at all. Its actually related to the wondering Jew family of plants called Commelinaceae the scientific name is Dichorisandra Thyrsiflora from Brazil. When the plants are young the leaves will have silver markings. I about had a cow when I first saw this. Unfortunatly the silver markings fade to green as it matures. here is a pic of one of mine a few years back. This is juvinal form.

Beautiful plant Lisa. I wish I lived in a warmer zone. I like many tropicals but they don't like my winters. I appreciate you sharing your photos so we can at least enjoy them that way.

What a vibrent color, well done.

How old is this plant and do you know where to get them.

Im mad about blues and purples mixed with my orange flowering plants.

I figure it will be ok on zone 11.

How much fun is this.

What a gorgeous cluster of blue! I have shell ginger and appreciate the info from bwilliams on the plant. Checked it out in PlantFiles and wow, when those buds open...another beautiful display. Post another picture when that happens?

:)
