We're getting lots of rain, yippee!!

Finally the rains are here! We had had only had two good rains since Thanksgiving last year, but starting in August we have been getting a lot of rain and September it's rained every other day. My flower beds are growing like crazy(so are the weeds).
Rainwater is so much better than the slightly salty irrigation water we use in summer. Only one drawback, it's too soggy to work in the gardens so I can't plant anything. I'm glad I made stepping stone paths thru the bigger areas, at least I can reach the weeds to pull them out.

You must have the rains we normally have up here! I can't stay on top of the water needs for the beds this year, have lost - am still losing - lots of plants that weren't established. Those that were established are suffering. (Your description of the problem working in soggy conditions brought back memories. Sigh!)

Enjoy it, Suzie, you guys deserve some water now and again.

I hope you get some rain soon Maggie. I was beginning to feel like I had a water hose permanently attached to my hand, lol. I couldn't get anything else done for watering and I always missed something.
I cleaned out a side bed that I'd been neglecting. The Jasmine sambac was taking over. I feel lost not having to water!

We've had rain everyday for the last week or so with today bringing the deluge.

I actually shut off the a/c today and opened all the doors just to hear it come down.

???Rain??? I know it sounds familar but I can't seem to remember what it is ?????????

A little help out there ?????

That reminds me of an old Ace Reid cartoon where one cowpoke is trying to pull another cowpoke out from under the front porch, the whole time trying to reassure him that it's only rain fallling on him. ;->

We had a light shower yesterday - the first in weeks - then today we got several downpours. Much appreciated!

Got a little here today too! It actually started late last night. I was driving home from being out and it was almost foreign to me! I thought I had ran thru a sprinkler but was shocked when it wet my whole windshield.

Well, got a 5 minute teaser today but more like a heavy drizzle that my wife told me about. But, when I got home 2 hours later and walked in the grass barefooted....couldn't feel a thing.

Anybody know of a good raindance step ???

We could use a rain dance as well. There was rain all around us for the last three days. The operative word is around us. We go less than .02". We need rain. The plants don't respond to water provided by a garden hose in the same way as they respond to rain. The grass out in the pastures has been stressed into forming seed. Stressed grass loses it nutritional value. My hubby grits his teeth when he has to buy more cattle cubes. It's been a dry summer. The early part of August got closest to a norm.

We have had some rain Sat and today. First we have had in 2 months.

It would come all around us. Severe lightning and thunder, but we never got anything. May be too late now to really save anything. Anyway it is so dry it would take a month of slow rain just to thoroughly wet the top inch of dirt. It is that dry.

I'll stop whining as I don't want to walk to the kitchen to get any cheese to go with it.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

I hope y'all get some rain soon. I can't believe how things have greened up. They've harvested what was left of the cotton crop after Emily and there must have been seeds on the ground, they're all coming up. We had started mowing once a month at the office because the lawn guy said no use to mow it if it's so dry. Well after the rain, it's a jungle out there, that stuff grew knee high overnight!
Betty, you're right about plants doing so much better with rain water. Wonder why that is?

No chlorine, for one thing (and that's a biggie.)
