This is Amber Rose X Butterfly, just opened this evening. The leaves are quite heavy and thick and this seedling is blooming at about 3 feet tall with a canopy at least 4 feet wide, but only 2 buds grew past infancy. The rest are staying small and fuzzy. Nice fragrance.
The air is heavy with brug perfume tonight!
I love the tendrils on the first one. Is the fragrance heavy enough to smell it from a distance?
bettydee, no - but there's only the 2, and I have Pink Beauty competing for my sense of smell about 5 feet away!
I have 2 more about to bloom for the first time, one is Gypsy Queen X Jean Pasco and the other is an Eventide X Butterfly that didn't bloom last year.
I don't know which is more work, carting jugs of water to the far-flung plants, or waiting for the pictures to load on dial-up...
WOW!! What a show. THANKS. I must say your first pic is of a quality brug. Just outstanding by my standards. Your last one too is way past decent. All were very pretty!
That Poppysue seedling is gorgeous. I love the color!!

Thanks kell and bettydee. I like those 2, too!
I live in a huge old Victorian house and have lots of extra space, so one room became a sort of brug forest last winter. However the house was so cold (drafty) they didn't really grow - it was weird to see them staying 1 to 3 feet tall. Some of the smallest ones got the tallest, once they went outside. I am happy to finally see what they look like, even if most of them are white.
Kin is right the amber rose is beautiful.......I know from coming home and parking my car in the front of the house, I smell the brugs from the backyard..its like the air is full of wonderful sweet scents...Judy
Love the tendrils on Amber R x Bf. Also love poppysues' seedling.
Where IS poppysue? I have been emailing her(different email addys) all week. I have an Autumn Clematis that has to be sent, full of white blooms & smelling up the place.
I emailed poppysue way back when I posted pictures of her seedling the first time and never heard back. Maybe she is on vacation?
Got up for work, waiting for the kettle to boil I went out with my flashlight to admire the brugs while they are wide open and fragrant. What a surprise - Amber Rose X Butterfly #1 is not exactly white anymore (but in the dark I can't tell exactly what color it is!) Last night she was still white.
I wonder if it's that bronze-y peach color that Madeira (a versicolor brug) gets. I wonder if they will turn white again in the daylight! After all, #1 has been open since 9-9 in the early evening and #2 opened the day before in the morning. Hmm, I don't think the Hospital would understand if I called off so I could observe my brugs today....
they are all stunning!
That pink AR x BF #1 is gorgeous!
Do you think poppysue would have THAT long of a vacation? I am geting worried!

WOW, those are beautiful. The photo made at 6:19 a.m. is stunning.
I agree Linda, that photo is just stunning!
Wow! Those are some beautiful blooms.
Thanks,
The Amber Rose cross lasted 5 days before the blooms dried up at the edges. I like it because the flowers stayed open day and night and never got soft or wilty in the heat. She is a nice dark peach color!
I just love that Amber Rose x Butterfly, have you heard yet from Poppysue?? Just curious what you/she decided with this one
