Misnamed but I adore it!

Danak, this is the supposed-to-be 'Ultra Violet Dusk,' that wasn't! lol I love the blooms.....they're incredible. I couldn't get the lime-green (almost neon) edging to pick up in the photo, but the budding bloom underneath IS actually that greenish color. These blooms are amazing. Big, double to triple frilled fuchsia with white and green edging. The foliage is ruffled.

This actually looks like the optimara "EverFloris" Series. They were produced by seed that were sent into space. The give away is the leaf and the lime green edging.

Let me search and see if I can find the name.

Thanks, Nanna, but it's not an Everfloris. I know exactly what you're speaking of though.....I have two of that series! =) This is a regular standard, with ruffled foliage. Good try though--the neon green edging DOES remind me of the space violets too, but it's not one.

First Class 2 states: Everlove (the one this blossom's coloring is most like) to be "Single purple-red sticktite frilled/wide white to light pink band, light green edge. Dark green, heart-shaped, glossy, hairy, wavy, scalloped/red back."

This blossom is double to triple--often SO full, I can't find the center! The bloom is very heavy, and almost the size of the foliage. They compete for space and I have to arrange them, pulling them up onto the foliage to keep from interfering.

Mkjones,
I wish I could help with the name of your beautiful AV. Where did you find this beauty?

I got leaves in a trade, with it supposing to have been 'Ultra Violet Dusk.' It was lagging in budding, 'til I cut off the large sucker for danak, and pop! There were two blooms in just a few days. =) It's certainly an easy bloomer.

Thanks Mkjones.Congratulations on such a beautiful plant. I bet you are very proud of it , I know I would be. :0)

Well, I broke off some petals and put them onto a white rug. It's hard to get a good clear photo withOUT the flash......don't want the light to interfere. In this one, you can see the green edging against the dimly (lol) white carpet.

Oh, I just found this thread! I'm glad yours bloomed for you-- a win-win situation! My leaves are doing well. The green edges on the flowers are very unique indeed! And I love ruffled foliage.

Thanks so much!

OH MY! That is STUNNING....no matter WHAT IT'S NAME IS!!
Here is a link to a website I like ~~ it lists violets by bloom color. There is one under the 'greens' called "Pretty Poison"...kind of looks like your violet, mkjones. =0)

Ah-HA! I'm the one who goofed.......found the tag, hadn't put it back w/this guy when I repotted........idiot. =/ Anyway, it's Sorano's 'Sheer Romance.'

Guess 'Ultra Violet Dusk' hit the dust sometime back......it's not around...........;-)

I actually grew this one from a leaf. I just love it.....

MKJ

p.s. And, it's the suckering'est violet I've got! It's blooming AND has another good-sized sucker peeking out at me again! Where's that exacto.............

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Hey thanks for letting us know, especially since I have a couple going myself-- one of the leaves came off the plantlet when I was potting it up, so hopefully I'll get at least two nice plants! And it sounds like more than that, if it suckers so readily. :)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh My really I was going to say it looked like sheer romance. Beautiful. I have a couple Ultra Violet Dusk and they have the girl foliage. Though I really like green in the flowers I also like Gril foliage Av's. Your's is beautiful ! Allison

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

ooohhhhh, Allison.... Girl foliage AVs! That's become one of my "things" this year... I'll put down a bunch of leaves, should have lots of plantlets by spring, so hopefully we can do some major trading LOL! I got the coolest ultra-ruffled girl leaf from Dana, and it sprouted a little plantlet -- yea! Hmmm, probably we should start a thread on the girl foliage AVs before I start asking y'all for pictures.... I'm getting this thread really off course here, sorry!
