Greetings all! I'm relatively new to DG's AND epiphyllum. My recent addiction to them has taken me from 0 to 18 plants in a matter of a few short months (much to hubby's dismay - ha ha). I love to grow anything that blooms and from what I've seen in pictures - ya can't beat epies! None of mine have bloomed yet as I started out buying un-rooted cuttings. Decided I couldn't wait for them to mature and bought several large plants off eBay. Now I just have wait....and wait. *sigh* From what I'm reading, most epies only bloom once a year...in the springtime...is that right? If so, oh boooy do I have a long time to wait. =( Any other growing tips? I'm especially interested in knowing how to winter them over in the house: Illinois winters can be brutal so I'm sure I'll have to bring them in at some point. Would appreciate any advice you can provide!
Anyways....here's a pic of *most* of my epies (plants on the top shelf, newly rooted cuttings on the next shelf down - - and yes, I have looots of other plants!)
New to DG & Epies
Betsy, a BIG welcome to DG, and to the orchid cactus forum!
Many of us (like myself) are busy right now with our DG effort in Help for our members who have lost everything from Katrina, but be assured we'll be back in full force when this nightmare is over.
How can I help????
Betsy, there is now an entire forum for Katrina

and scads of threads of help information. You just have to read through them and pick how to help. The database of help might be a good place to start even though we still have a lot of refining to do.
