Have any of you tried growing Mtn. Ash Shipova. My tree is about 6 years old. this is the first time it has had fruit. I bought it from Raintree Nursery here in WA. W as i think developed in Yugoslovia. The fruit would I think be quite a bit larger if I had thinned them but never even thought of that. They are quite good, tasting similiar to Asian pears. Shipova is a unique pear and Mtn. Ash cross. DonnaS
I haven't tried growing that particular tree, but I do have many of Raintree Nursery's fruit trees. It's one of my favorite places to shop although I have to do it online.
Does Shipova have the grainy consistancy that Asian Pears do?

Veronica, no actually they are quite smooth but firm if that is possible. Actually I had to guess when was right time to pick them. But when I cut open the seeds are black and with most fruits that is an idication that they are riipe. i thought them quite tasty. DonnaS
