Help MSJen after Katrina
Is there a thread where I could read the needs of MSJen and what the buddy system is?? I have two evacuees, along with their 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, moved into my guesthouse and they will be here indefinitely - they do not plant to rebuild their homes, one in NO and one in Waveland. One is a teacher and one is an Editor with the Times Picayune. We also have 300 evacuees in a church camp west of town, and 500 in a state park. Citizens and churches are making meals for each group and local businesses are providing water and other necessities, and families are supplying blankets/sheets/pillows and clothing. One family has already bought a house and the three children will start school tomorrow, and the mom will be working there.
I would like these answers also
thanks munchken!
you folks can also email me, and I will send you updates when available, or a list of what has alreaady been purchased/sent
i probably won't have time to check the forums much, dmail is keeping me occupied :-)
I can't open the above link, nothing is there. Is there another thread?
You have dmail...
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers and concerns.
Just talked to DH he has resolved the transportation issue with our horses. The professional hauler from OK will be here shortly.
Here at the hotel we are fine. We have toys electricity, food and clean clothes. Power has been restored to 80% of the area and stores are starting to open. Aid is coming in by the truckloads.
I feel like I should need something, but I don’t. We have lost our home but we are one of the lucky ones because we are insured.
After speaking to some of the guests in the hotel we have determined there are no pressing needs at this time. Thank you Holiday Inn, Gulfport MS!!
Please divert all care packages destined for us and have them delivered to Houston, TX Astrodome, we are so distressed over their situation.
Please continue to pray for our health and well being.
Love Ya,
Jen
PS Our plans to move to NY have been accelerated. Our realtor is working to get us early possession of our home we hope to be leaving Gulfport in less than two weeks.
Current situation - We are 152 room hotel, 8 room are employees, 4 rooms guest, 2 rooms NBC, the rest are contract workers out of TX
So glad to hear that you are OK Jen. Thank God you had insurance. Please keep us up on how your move is going. Where in NY will you be moving to? I am from LI.
