Grape hyacinths coming up!

Northwest, OH(Zone 5b)

I don't think I've ever noticed this happening before, but my grape hyacinths are coming up NOW! They performed as they should this past spring, died down, and now I notice that they're popping through the ground again. I have them two different locations, and they're doing it in both places. Are they supposed to do that?? Am I going to lose them? :-(

I believe that's natural and you need not panic.

Mine do that as well, & many winters the foliage remains throughout the winter. I agree that it's normal behavior & you need not worry.

They are just waving their little hands saying: "Hey I am here and do not plant anything on top of me"

Well, thank goodness! I've had them for years, but this is the first time I've noticed thus!

LOL @ bleek.

They do this just to freak you out and make my mother call me in a panic! I always give mine a little bulb fertilizer this time of year, figure they are storing up energy for spring.

i just noticed today that the muscari that i planted a few weeks ago is starting to poke through the ground. this is my first time planting them so i hope they will be okay. it has been so warm here lately i guess they must think it is time to sprout.

My allium that I planted just a few weeks ago are popping through, too.

Well check this out - my Golden Rain daffodils I planted 4 years ago are sending up flower stalks! They're always first out of the gate but this year's stuff hasn't even finished dying off yet! Took this picture today - I haven't even cleaned my garden up yet for the winter. I found some Dutch Iris leaves coming up also, and Muscari have had leaves coming up for awhile now.

that is crazy!! is this normal? this is my first year playing around with bulbs so i'm not sure what to expect.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

When digging around in my daff bed to put in some new additions, I noticed many of the bulbs were sprouting, some nearly enough to break through the soil surface! I'm used to seeing this with grape hyacinths, but not with others. But I've heard other people say their bulbs are doing the same thing. Last year, my daffs all popped up during a warm spell in January and grew several inches of leaf... but they still bloomed in the spring... so I'm just going to relax & let them do their thing. There's not much I can do, anyway, other than waving my arms and telling them, "NO! Not yet! Go back! Go back!!"

LOL!!
