Buffalo, WV(Zone 7a)

Hi all, weather is nice here have the windows open tonight listening to the crickets and other night sounds, something I haven't been able to do most of the summer because of the heat.

I've been watching the news and crying every day. I feel so helpless not being able to take action while all those people and babies are dying in New Orleans. I found this site today posted here on DG http://www.hurricanehousing.org/ I posted on this site to house a single mother with small children in my extra bedroom. It made me feel better being able to do this, I only wish I was closer to help more. Have you seen all the discussion on the Weather forum and the new Hurricane Katrina Forum? Great stuff being done by DGer's. There is even a list of the DGer's that live in the affected areas and members have D-mailed all of them trying to get in contact. Some have responded but still have no word from over 150 of them. Daves Garden is the greatest, so warm-hearted and dedicated to helping others.

There's also Noah's Wish which is helping the pets/livestock affected by the Hurricane. http://www.noahswish.org They can always use donations and maybe even offers of foster homes if you're close enough.

Please forward this site to anyone you think might be able to help. It is unbelievable how many have been made homeless so quickly. http://www.hurricanehousing.org/
