I just received a variety of Canna Bulbs. How do I go about storing them-for its too late to place them in the ground. Just in peat moss?
Thank-You, Ingrid
Canna Bulb-Storing Question
Hi.
Last fall I put mine in used onion bags and hung them in my garage and they did fine.

Thanks for such a fast reply!!
The only thing is my zone would be reaching -20 give or take in the winter here. I would imagine just a cool spot in the basement would be fine but the peat moss is what I don't know about.

Our customers have taught us that what works to store bulbs in one house or climate often fails somewhere else, so you often have to keep experimenting and using your green-thumb intuition to discover what will work for you. Here we put our cannas in wood shavings in plastic grocery bags or plastic storage boxes and store them in an unheated room of our house where the temperature ranges from 35-50. For more suggestions, you might like to look at this page of the Planting and Care section of our website: http://oldhousegardens.com/howToSpring.asp . Scroll down till you get to the Cannas section where the storage tips are in the last two paragraphs. Good luck!
