Sunset Hibisicus ..... not the tropical one

Brown City, MI(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone,

I am not a Hibiscus grower, except for a few Rose of Sharons and a couple of Hardy Hibiscus.

A couple of summers ago, I grew one that was called "Sunset", but it wasn't a tropical Hibiscus. It grew more like a annual althea at least in my zone 5.

It was a beautiful large yellow flower that grew about 3 feet tall and produced seed pods with many many seeds in them.

Unfortunately I can't find a picture of it.

I still have some seed left that I want to give to someone, but I sure would like to tell them what they are getting. Does anyone have any idea what plant it may have been? I tried the data base, but there isn't anything there under "Hibiscus" that fits.

Any help will really be appreciated.

It takes you to a search page Servants_heart.

Scroll down and either click on the text or the image, and it will take you to the plants entry.

It shows a yellow manihot--nothing called Sunset--I have searched and searched. This is not my first time searching plant files but I am not finding any Sunset Hardy Hibiscus or Sunset Hibiscus at all. Like when I was looking for Cranberry Hibiscus which I never found but MollyMc found the right one for me! hehehe

Your right Servants_Heart, but I think that "Sunset Hibiscus" is just a common name that it also goes by.

Anyways, it's the same plant that was being sold at one of our local nurseries as "Sunset".
