All commercial peaches are hybrids propagated by grafting. Seedlings grow fine but are seldom like the peach from which the pit was obtained. You might get something that resembles a Red Haven, but chances are you will not. Lots of fun looking for new varieties if you have the time and space.

Hey Farmerdill, Thanks for your advive. Two or three years ago, we planted an unknown yellow peach pit. Got a nice 9' skinny tree. Last year we had nine blossoms. We were so excited. Along came a killing freeze May 3rd and 4th. Arrrrrrrg! We'll see what happens this year.

I have raised some volunteer peach trees. The Red Haven types are good, but others have not been so good.

There are some good nursery trees so I reccomend them.
