baby castor plants
I have step kids ... tennage ones, no less. Surely that changes matters, does it not?
BogweedBuck-if you wanted this plant and carlab68 wouldn't trade you, I have several. I do BELIEVE they are an annual however so you might want to either keep plants that haven't flowered in the house OR plant from seed next Spring!! Or start the seeds a month of so before planting out in Spring!! Bonnie
na i will trade just want to make sure that people that it will kill you if you eat the bean. you you're kids you're pets ect. but thats at you're risk.
lol step kids you're bad
Kids might eat it (some are deeply and regrettably lacking in intelligence these days and some are simply too young to realize that some things could end their lives) but most pets, wild animals don't eat everything in site! hehehe I have dogs that MIGHT try to eat them if they were anywhere near enough to their kennel but my cat will only try to scratch against them, maybe pee on them! hehehe He eats grass though, maybe mint. Bonnie
well i love theese but yes there are alot of stupid people that just are careless so i warn everyone. i feel that its the responsible thing to do.
My sons are smart little guys: I have zero worries there. I am thinking that I ought to get some seeds this fall/winter and start them on my heated wet-beds this March, tho. This house is already a jungle nightmare every winter, this year is going to be really bad (I have well over a dozen more aroids than I did last summer, and most of them I have no idea whether or not I can successfully force them into dormancy, so they'll be taking residence within our humble little domicile)
i will ship you some seeds with you canna bulbs hows that i have gobs of seed
You da man!
ill put them in there owne little baggie and be carefull and wash you're hands after handeling them.
they are the red variety and can get to 10 ta 15 foot in a season then just collect the seed and let the winter kill them thats what i do lol.
Are there any alkaloids that may tempt me to not wash my hands? I've been visited by unexpected sensations after working with these datura plants around the yard ...
no but the seeds contain ricen wich is 11 times more poisonis than cobra venom and 6000 times more that arcenic so just to be carfull dont eat them and i have been working with them and family has had them for years without any problems just use youre noodle i use latex surgical gloves when hanhling seed but thats just me.
lol
but i reall do believe that i may be even taking to mant precautions but id feel bad if someone got hurt because the ate the seed. there really pretty seeds and look just like a dog tick lol
Well, you never said anything about ticks! There's something I've always wanted to eat more of!!!!
lol well i dont make this stuff up how do you think we found out that they would kill you unless someone ate one lol
I think you both are pretty silly!! (thanks for the info about ricen carlab68!) Bonnie
Ticks, indeed!!! What will you tell us you want to eat next BogweedBuck??!!! hehehe
Think I will follow BogweedBuck posts from here on (don't worry, not really stalking), I am just cracking up at every one of them and not getting my work done! With the sad news all around lately, everyone can use some light hearted humor. Thanks. oh and I will have lots of seeds from my casters as well for anyone who want some.
This is same variety in my backyard. I planted it last summer in a 5 gal pot and left it over the winter, it has since rooted thru the pot into the ground and has been stunning all summer. Not sure how I will get it out now, maybe I will just leave and see what happens next year. Such a great plant for the color and architectural impact!
Sue, you're too kind! Seems like the times I've struggling the most inside is when the stuff others laugh at seems to come flying out of nowhere.
I'll be honest in saying that I have all but avoided news of Katrina's tragedies in recent days. I feel horrible for those affected, and my anger at those taking the "low road" (looting, shooting at cops, etc.) is indescribable.
That said ... there is another neighbor with a dog that simply just ... won't ... stop ... barking! At what level are these seeds toxic? Are they so oily that I would have a hard time packing some Velveeta cheese around a few?
Juuuuuuuuuuuuust kidding. It is, though, irritating to have a dog that's not a barker and a neighbor's whose is unbearable; especially when one takes into account the fact that mine's a Jack Russel terrorist.
Sue ... your castor doesn't look disarmingly tall. Definitely a handsome little fellow you have there! We gotta talk more come fall.
LOL, had one of those but my neighbor got the hint when I kept giving the dog a shower of water from the hose, he eventually got her one of those no bark training collars and now I hear a rare bark, usually a legit one when someone is walking by.
That pic was taken about 3 months ago, it has doubled height and width wise since and is full of blooms, I heard if one removes the blooms as they develop, it will grow taller. Also I guess it depends on the variety? or maybe the soil and water conditions, not sure. Badseed has a very tall one I saw a pic of, I would like to try for one of those.
Oh and the seeds look exactly like dried beans you would buy in the grocery store for soups. No oil at all.
Jack Russell terrorist! Love it. I call mine Cujo, she is a 3 1/2 lb 6 mo. old red tiny toy poodle, thinks she scares the FedEx guy who named her that.
Cujo!
Well.... they *are* big dogs trapped in little dog bodies. Although mine, Sparky, can be such a woss sometimes that I refer to her as a car trapped in a little dogs body (as opposed to my cats, Spliff and Lili who are -- and I mean it -- dogs trapped in feline bodies)
great pics there to cool!!!!!!!!
I have a Jack Russel terriorist mix--so long as my other dogs are not around him and all he is very calm and quiet. He is at Mom's, the kennel is covered at the bottom by weeds (she doesn't do yard work) and the top with gourds, my other dogs are here with me so he is enjoying being pampered and all and rarely barks now!! He is a very, very good dog!! Always happy to see us when we stop by to visit too!! (We don't have a truck to move his kennel to new rental house and no money to buy a new one so that is why he is still there and not here. But Mom loves him and spoils him rotten!! He never got canned food everyday before but he does now!! Canned food, dry food and table scraps--all for HIM!! No wonder he is sooooo happy, eh?!!)
Bonnie
Sounds like I'd expect to have a pretty chubby dog before too awefully long!
