I'm in love:-)

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9a)

with this wonderful Potting soil, called Fox Farm. I picked up a bag this weekend at a local hydophonics store. The manager at Home Depot was telling me about it and how totally awesome it is. While it is more expensive that most potting soil, it's worth it for my hoya babies. It does have some fertilizer in it, but that's okay, because it's so wonderful.

Awanda, This soil looks interesting, I wonder if I can find it locally here? How long have you been using it? Do you add anything to it?

Awanda, Fox Farm soil is great. They also make really nice organic (I seem to recall) liquid fertilizers. Some other good soils are Live Earth, Black Gold (different from Black Magic) and Edna's best. What I really like about the high end soils, aside from the better structure, is that they have all sorts of cool additives that plants like, like worm castings, mycorrhizae fungus, humic acid, and other obscure things.

On the label it talks about some ingredients that seem very high in calcium. I know calcium works wonders on my brugs.

After a few phone calls to some hydroponic places, no one around here has heard of it. I'd hate to have to order online for it but it does sound good for hoyas.

Susan the bag is really light, I was surprised at how light it was for the size of the bag:-).

Susan,
when you go to the link given above, click on add to cart. Then checkout & on the bottom it will have a shipping calculator. Just type in your zip & then enter, it will give you several shipping quotes. I was quoted; United Parcel Service (1 x 16.5lbs) (Ground) $22.85 , being the cheapest....Yikes!

The answers I got was that hydroponics use only water to grow.:-(
I said I wasn't interested in hydroponics just want this for my hoyas. Of course, they didn't know what I was talking about.
