question: do the same hummers visit a feeder each time, or is it just several passing thru

Good one!

My camera has a slight delay between when I press the button and when it actually takes the pic, so I get shots of empty feeders. If I could learn to time it to before the hummer gets there I'd be set. I'd also be psychic, lol.

Congrats on yours!

mg, I have the SAME problem! Just not the same in the scrapbook to have photos of an empty feeder. Good shot Vossner!

thanks. Don't know what is going on today. I have a window in front of my kitchen sink and was able to take another pic. The one posted before was of a hummer using the feeder in the patio area. The feeder outside the kitchen window is one of those feeders that has "suckies" so you can place against a window. When I first installed it at eye level, my kitty kept pawing it everytime he saw a hummer. So DH got on a ladder and stuck it way on high on the window. Problem solved.

Still wondering if this is the same little guy....

I wonder that too. I have confirmed one male and two females (ruby throats) that have visited, because of the male's red throat and I saw two females at once in the yard. I don't know if the females take turns or if one of them "owns" the feeder and chases the others away.

my neighbor has installed 6 feeders outside her kitchen window because she says these guys are vicious when it comes to feeding. If I have so many with just 3 feeders, I can imagine she is having quite a show.

I myself have wondered that. If they remember the yards and places they like best- then put "dibs" on your yard.
I have 3 out now too. I think I'll put the other 3 feeders out. The last 2 years there was a male that staked out the yard and chased every other hummer away. I put feeders all over the yard, but he greedily gaurded all of them. So far this year they've been coming and going, but no territorial claims yet.
