Why I live in Orchidland

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

Orchidland Estates always sounds to me like a fancy trailer park...but here is what is unique. Here is a closeup of the flower that grows wild here....and a view of a field.... It always thrills me....AMAZING!

OH yeah...and the reason I am on this forum is this is the beginning of an unidentified brug bloom....I am excited!!!!

I have orchid envy, but I don't envy your soil. I just have to appreciate what I have.

Can you tell yet what color she'll be? I like her long tendrils.

These orchids grow on NOTHING...and very hard to dig them out. They are spectacular in clumps but really a weed...and no way to get rid of t hem...ah, the perils of the tropics.!!!

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

will post the developments of the Brug. Yes...I love the tendrils...no idea of the color!!!!

I would love to have your problem with "weeds."

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Oh WOW Carol I would LOVE to have those WEEDS at my house, that orchid is beautiful.
Right now we are getting the spin off of Katrina, heavy rain and strong winds, hope my Brugs hold up.

I spent the summer in Hawaii a few years ago and was amazed at the 'little baby orchids' we saw growing like weeds everywhere. They ARE beautiful! Makes me want to go back again!

Aberdeen, NC

Oh, how beautiful!! Are they scented too? Combine that with brugs and hoyas,,,what a paradise!! I can understand why you love it there. A field of orchids would be so much fun. All I have here are dandelions! LOL

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

MY BAD. Wanting that brug ID'd is NOT the reason I am on this forum...it was the reason for this thread! Now I think it is Rosamond. Tomorrow will tell.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Lucky you.......something so beautiful growing wild.
