three hummer feeders?

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

I recently saw a thread that mentioned putting up three feeders to attract more hummers because the resident bossy one can't protect all three. Does anyone know about how far apart these need to be? Also, do they need to be a certain distance from the ground?

If you hang them......they will come. I have two feeders that are about 10 feet apart and others strewn about. 3 in my patio alone. I have some on hooks on the awning and others on shepherds crooks. The hummers will find them as long as they are in the open. I have never tried the feeders that hang on a window. I am afraid they will bash their little hummer brains in. Ocassionally one will try to come in for the Christmas tree lights (the only reason I can figure.) Good luck

Thanks for the info. We only had one feeder, and have seen Mr. Bossy running off other hummingbirds, so went this weekend and bought two more. One is on a shepherd's hook and I was afraid it might be too low, but will leave it now. They are all about 20 feet from each other - none too close to a window! The original feeder is only about six feet from where we sit to drink coffee in the morning, but Mr. B doesn't seem to care that we are there. Hope more show up now.
