Hi,
I have a number of plants on my GW trade list : ensatagirl. Also, I have African violet plantlets which are growing in their own containers; there are nine varieties. I have David Austin roses: Abraham Darby and Sharif Asimah for cuttings. In a pinch I could take a cutting off my fledging tropical hibiscus, purchased in the co-op last fall.
I am interested in Rose of Sharon Diana and Blue Satin.
Still looking for Rose of Sharon cuttings: Blue Satin
Gloria: I just bought Blue Satin. Do you have instructions for cuttings? I'd gladly try for you.

This isn't a good time for doing cuttings. At Powell Gardens we did them in early to mid spring even up to mid June sometimes. Now the plants are blooming and that is where all the energy is going. They won't have time to make roots unless you have a green house that you can keep them warm in and a mister to keep them moist. And many ROS do not root well. We tried for 3 years at PG to get some to root and they just would not make roots. Eventually rotted. I think seeds(some ROS are sterile so even seeds are worthless) are the best way to go with this plant or just wait for sprouts to come up.
I have one Blue Satin and one small sprout this year. If another one comes up in the spring I'll try to remember you or you can email me and remind me to keep an eye out for one for you.
I am mistaken about which one I have. It is the Violet Satin.

I have not had any trouble rooting cuttings right now. If you remove all the leaves, and blooms...buds, and recut the cuttings and place them in willow water they will root within 2 weeks.
Thanks leaflady. I don't have willow water and have a big to-do list so I'll drop the thought of it.
