Cross stitch anyone?

I don't know if anyone on here is interested in cross stitch, but the best free pattern site I've found is focused on hummingbirds and butterflies so I thought I would mention it here. http://www.birdcrossstitch.com/

The page also links to humming bird photos, hummingbird related sites, and, if you like hummingbirds, it's worth taking a look at the site just to see the hummingbird that follows the cursor.

Cool! - You ought to put a link in the Crafts & Decorating forum to this. There's lots of people that would love it.

I like the little things to cross stitch - great on shirt pockets.

BetsyBug, how do you cross stitch on a shirt pocket? Do you remove the pocket and hoop it somehow, or do you hoop both shirt & pocket and simply stitch the pocket closed as you work? I know this is a very basic newbie sort of question, but it's one I've been wondering about, as I love the look of a bit of embroidery on a pocket...

Thanks!

And thanks for the link, zhinu!

This was delt with on one of the yahoo groups I'm on. You put a piece of waste canvas (something you don't want, it can be stained etc) over the area you want to stitch tack it down, do your cross stitch using the holes in the waste canvas, when you are finished then you soak it and gently pull the threads of the waste canvas (which weakens with the
water) away - leaving you with just the fabric and your design.

I haven't done this, but that's how I understand it works.

I love to cross-stitch, but haven't done much in the last few years. I think that's why I love gardening so much too, it keeps my hands busy. This site looks like it might have lots of things I might like to do this winter. Thanks!

My cross stitch project (a tiger I've about 80% completed) and fiction reading is suffering right now due to my obsession with creating a garden.
