WANTED: Creeping Thyme 'Transparent Golden'

San Jose, CA

I'd take cuttings, if no rooted plants are available. I'm looking for a bunch to trail down the sides of a large stacked stone planter.

I have plants to trade and can take cuttings as well. Send me a PM if you have this variety.

Thanks!

I'm far behind on all my gardening at present, so I don't want to make promises I can't keep. However, if you don't find this elsewhere, Dmail me and I'll try to get some out to you before frost here. Hopefully I'll be more caught up in a month. I'd love to say, no problem, I'll pop some in the mail to you on Monday, but that's not realistic... I'm sorry.

'Caraway Thyme' is another nice low-growing creeper with small, deep green leaves and a wonderful scent... I had some growing alternately with my 'Transparent Golden' thyme, and it looked great but got crowded out last year (I have a new plant but it's still smallish). Any of the creeping thymes would work great for the planter you described, and it can be fun to have a variety of them cascading around... are you sure you want to look only for the golden?

Others would be nice to mix in with the golden, but I want to make sure I at least find the golden one. I've been quite behind in my gardening too, so I know what you mean. I've slowed my trading way down this fall due to my work schedule. I'll mail you later in September if I don't find any other offers. Thanks!

Lily, thanks to Critter, I have a path lined with T. Yellow Transparent and can send you a small start tomorrow (plus cuttings), if you like. Hi Critter - this is such a vigorous, beautiful thyme. It took off like no other thyme you shared with me. Thank you.

I'm glad it's doing well for you, Karen! It's definitely a vigorous one. I took a little start to my MIL a couple of years ago, and by the end of the summer it had covered 3 or 4 square feet around the base of a statue in her rose garden. Another one that's been growing well in a couple of containers for me this summer is the 'Hall's Wooly Thyme' I picked up at DeBaggio's this spring... Did I get a start of that one to you? If not, LMK, and I'll have one for you when I see you.

Thanks, bluespiral. I'll send you a D-mail to see what you'd be interested in from me. I don't think I can send anything until early next week due to my work schedule, but I'm sure I can find something you'd be interested in.

Hi gals - am sending out boxes to vicki and lily - DH tells me the rumbling I am hearing is construction down at the erstwhile mill and not thunder.

Vicki, we can "talk turkey" about a trade tonight - the day's getting old here.

Critter, what a horticultural detour we've had on our way to scented geraniums, eh? And here I thought this old plant hound was "through" acquiring new plants. Yes, you shared Hall's Woolly thyme - it looks like it's settling in, but it's not making cascades over my stones like T. lanuginosa (another woolly thyme, seems more silvery). I still intend to get your Corsican mint back to you along with some others...

I'll come back to this thread tonight and post what I sent to Vicki - am interpreting "anykind" loosely with regard to thyme. While I'm at it, I'll do the same for Lily.

The trowel and snippers call - Karen

Would anyone happen to have cuttings of Thymus serpyllum alba and 'Pink Chintz'?

Karen
What would you like in trade? Let me know what you are looking for ok.
