Hi all,
Hope you can help me. I have been attacked by vine borers this year and I don't know how to fight back. They have sent my zucchini and squash to an early grave. My pumpkins are barely holding on. I know there isn't much I can do this year for the fallen. The base of the vines look worse than swiss cheese. But how about for next year? Will these worms overwinter in my garden? Is there anything I can do this fall to get rid of them? How about in the spring? What can I do to protect my sqash plants next year?
Any suggestions please.
vine borers
I don't know if this works for anyone else, -but, --I soak the seed in kerosine over night , [regular kerosine not the deodorized kind from the Grocery Store], -this has fooled the Borers for most of the season, sometimes all of it, --[when I gardened farther north]. Here in Florida I don't think anything will keep the bugs away for the whole season, but it keeps them away long enough for me to get plenty before the bugs eat them, --Michael
