Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

really bad it will make youre eyes water

St. Paul, MN(Zone 4a)

Too cool! But there is something not quite nice about the way those blossoms look.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL I have six kids. Let me tell you, I have smelled some stuff.

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

yes the acent people were scared of them and thought the smell was people that the plant ate lol

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh my, I almost believe that one myself.
Maybe I DO need one to keep the kids and neighbor's kids in line.
Really awesome, carlab68.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

ROTFLOL I think I will stand one in the kitchen and tell the kids, that is where the first six went. LOL

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

*LOL* ya'll are bad!! nice specimen.. but you wouldn't find me that close to it in bloom..

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Hysterical, Chele.
I am about to wet my pants!!!
What a stroke of genius!

C'mon MzMunchkin....think of the possibilties here...lol.

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

yes but there is something evil looking about them and the burn calories to heat up really hott that what makes the smell strong and heat rises so better for the beetles flying by.

ive red somewhere that they raise there temps well over 100 degrees

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Wow, I did not know that.
This still leaves many distinct possibilties for use in the home, besides decorative. (No, I am kidding.)
But seriously, I am off to do more genuine research. Thanks for the photos, they are incredible. Were you able to feel heat?

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

they are warm to the touch but it dissipates fast so not really. they are verry cool just dont let them bloom in the house or youre family may call the police on you for the ded guy under the house lol

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

lol!

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

Ric

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

well the secret is when it bloomed in the picture it was bad but the next day you could not stand with it lol

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

LOL!
So there WAS a catch!
Hope you don't have many close neighbors!

Hmmmm on second thought............lol

Louisville, KY(Zone 6a)

well the good news is that they ony stink for a couple of days or untill you polinate them so thats good

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So impressive!! I love the leaf stalk too.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Is it these or something else that smells like rancid meat, which attracts flies that pollenate them? I remember reading that somewhere.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Besides children under the age of 3?
Whoops sorry I didn't see the "pollinates them" line.

Carrion Plants do that too Chele.
I just happen to have............................lol

Ric

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL You aren't right!

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

After 15 years you're just realizing that? LOL

Ric

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Carlab68 you can actually buy the seed of Amorphophallus Titanum from one or two websites and it is much cheaper than buying a plant. A cool site to look around Is www.Sumatraflora.com. They have great species descriptions and other fun stuff. There is also www.worldwidetropicals.com They have titanum bulbs and seeds. These guys are very very easy to germinate( if I can do it anyone can) and cheaper to buy from seed.
Though I hope you have a greenhouse or a really warm humid house with a nice south facing window ... Titanum likes it hot and humid.

Do you have any other amorph species ?

Chris

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)
