Here is a H. pottsii IML 18 also called by some to be H. nicholsonii.
OK...another photo spree
Carol, can I come live with you? I'm green with envy!!!
ann
WOW!!!!! The hoya pottsii IML 18 is fantastic! That is the prettiest hoya leaf I have ever seen! Who cares what the flowers look like. Is this because of heavy sun? Is this a rare hoya? Carol that is amazing!
~Heather
OHHH, I like the H. pottsi IML 18 . Those leaves are beautiful!! That H. thomsonii is so cute. Has it bloomed for you? Is there any fragrance to the H. halophylla. I like that one too!
Beautiful....sigh....
Blessings,
Awanda
They're all really nice! Like some of the others, I really love the pottsi IML 18!
Carol, how long did it take the thomsonii to reach that size?
The H. pottsii doesn't grow in the sun...but it grows in very high indirect light...I don't think it is rare...but I have never seen one that red! The H. thomsonii has bloomed and I was underwhelmed by the fragrance...the second time it bloomed it smells better. H. halophylla should have a fragrance...I just haven't smelled it :>). I will try tonight. Thanks for the nice comments. My camera just went south, so I am having fun with Bob's...
Carol
Edited to say that I have had the H. thomsonii for about 2 or 3 years...probably 3. It grew slowly at first...but then took off.

OH, I love that H. australis. The leaves are beautiful!! I love the coloring. Who needs blossoms when the leaves look like that?? The H. etepensis is so cute. Is it fragrant? The H. potsii IML 18 is a beauty too !! The color is something else.....
More hoyas to dream about !! LOL
What a beautiful shot. It looks just like the pics I have of my H. pubicalyx 'red buttons'.
What is the difference in those two plants?
Marcy
Marcy...GOOD question!!! After years of trying to remember which is which, I can only tell the difference (to be positive)if the two plants are side by side: RHP has longer leaves on a full plant than the Red Buttons (hard to compare two small plants) and to my eye, the Red Buttons has a redder corona. Other than that, both have the purplish new growth etc.
SMASHING photo, Ann - really gorgeous!
AlohaHoya, I think you're on a trip for 2 weeks but hope you or one of you very knowledgeable hoya lovers can help. What kind of hoya is this? My friend gave me a cutting about 3 years ago and this is all it's done in 3 years. What am I doing wrong? I need help with ID and suggested care to get it to bloom. I'm in the FL Panhandle near Destin. You guys are all great! Thanks for the help!
It looks to me like a good old fashioned H. carnosa.
It has taken my cuttings years to get as big as yours too. If you planted the cutting in that pot, the roots may be the part of the plant doing all the growing right now, which might explain why there is little growth taking place above the dirt.
I think your plant looks very healthy!
Ann
Cheeries....
Yes...I think MsKitty is right. If there is still a lot of soil in the pot without roots...you might pot it DOWN...smaller pot. Then the vine growth will take off!!
Carol
Oh wow Aloha..wowowo is H. pottsii IML 18 that way in the sun? or shade? or both? I NEED TO HAVE IT!
H. chuniana IML 1101... Isn't that the one you had mislabelled and DL IDd it to be hellwigiana? You wrote that to me, but I can't find the e-mail right now.
Christina
It is David Liddles H. chuniana IML 1101 that he has found to be H. hellwigiana. I believe he said the one circulating in Europe is the real one.
Carol
Well I figure at the rate my H. thomsonii is growing I should be about 100 years old befor it gets to be as big as yours. What is with mine that it does not grow? I no it's slow but 2 leaves a year is just a little to slow for me. Yours is beautiful Carol... I just had to moan and grown about my H. thomsonii a little..
So on the H. chuniana IML 1101, you have it in your cataloge as H. hellwigiana? Because the one I got from you last month looks like this one, but the corolla's didn't seem to be as green.
I love the leaves on the australis too.
Remember...color in the flower is fleeting...can differ a lot!!!
Yes I did figure that in, and also I figure the shipping may have had something to do with it, as the umbell was pretty far along when I received her. She sure smells wonderful.
Ann the picture of your hawaiin purple is just beautiful.
Thanks Tami! I hope it will bloom again for me this year. I repotted it into a larger bowl, so we shall see if she is busy making roots, or if she will get busy making blooms.
Ann
