Lacy strawberry leaves

Dundas,, ON(Zone 5b)

HELP!!

Since my strawberries stopped producing fruit, some pest has turned the leaves to lace. They're all full of lots and lots of small round holes.

Any ideas as to what is going this, and how I can stop it?

I've looked but can't see anything, but since I haven't a clue what I'm looking for, it's hard to find it maybe?

Any ideas, inspirations or intelligence (in the spy sense) very welcome.

If the holes are round, could it have been leafcutter bees? Since strawberries are related to roses, and they sure like roses. Not much you can do about it anyway, but better than some kinds of insect damage.

My dad takes all the leaves off the strawberry plants after they've finished producing. They grow new leaves. He says many commercial growers mow the rows to get rid of the old leaves. So I would take them all off and by the time the new ones grow that bug may have moved on or finished the chewing part of it's lifecycle.

OK, thanks for those valuable bits of information. I'll get up on the roof with the weed-whacker tomorrow. And I'll look up those bees and see if I see them around. There are tons of roses in the neighbours' gardens, and a few in mine too, so they may well be the culprits.

Thanks again.
