Trip to South Coast of Newfoundland

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

I just got back from a 3 day trip to the south coast of Newfoundland. It was my first time in that area as it is a very long drive and only a few communities exist there. The drive was boring but once I got there , the scenery was wonderful and the fishing villiages delightful. It was heavy overcast all three days. I imagine it would be spectacular on a fine day. This is English Harbour East, probbaly the lovliest community in the area.

This community is called Pool's Cove

This is what the inhabitants look at each day.

This is a B&B in Harbour Breton. It has to be the lovliest B&B I've ever seen!

The wharf at Hermitage. A passenger ferry leaves here to service very isolated communities along the south coast that have no roads and hence, no cars!

This is the community church in St. Jacques...population 156!

I'll end with a shot of the bay overlooking Coomb's Cove. What a view to wake up to each morning.

I have to get there someday. My husband travels often to St. John's but rarely gives me enough to notice to plan around my schedule and go too. Someday....

Beautiful Todd. Are these trips you're taking all for pleasure? If it's for work, what a great job you must have.

The trip were indeed for work....part of my work is searching for interesting native plants for the Botanical Garden. It gives me an opportunity to visit parts of Newfoundland where I've never been. There are only two areas left on the Island that would be new...they are on the schedule for next summer. I only have one more trip plann I leave in a weeked...this time to Denver! I leave in a week to spend a week in the Denver area. I have a conference at the Denver Botanical Garden but I am taking a few days to sight see. I'll have plenty of pics to post when I get back.

Thanks Todd

I've only been to Denver to change planes. The airport is WAY out of town. Have a great trip and I (we) look forward to more pictures from you.
