Help Me ID this Hardy please

Olathe, KS(Zone 6a)

My nieghbor just brought me this unusual looking Hibiscus flower and I've never seen 1 quite like it. It was sold as a Hardy and the tag merely stated "Red Hibiscus". I have many reds but nothing like this 1.
Any idea's?
Thanks friends, JD

Excellent and thank you. I'll be looking it up ASAP but do either of you have any experience or knowledge about this 1 yu could share with me? Is there anything special about it to you and is it picky?
Man I have so many hardy and tropical hibiscus now...I don't know how I'm going to deal with all the tropicals over winter, I dread just thinking about that.
Thanks friends;)

JD, if the leaves look like marijuana leaves it is the Texas Star. They like plenty of water and sun. They are hardy in my area 8a, and come back from the roots each year.

Well I can't find it in plant files darnit. Do either of you know any place I can find a lil more info on this 1? I hope it grows big enough for me to rob a few cuts off it before fall hits.
Thanks again, JD

Here, I overwinter cuttings to avoid starting it over from seeds.

I have an overgrown Texas Star seedling or two around here. They are quite healthy but too tall (18") and thin. Would be happy to send it for postage if you are interested. If it ever stops raining around here I could take a photo of the seedling and post it so you could seee if you are interested.

ardesia I would love to get my hands on a plant rather than a cutting or the like. Just let me know what you'd like me to do to get the ball rolling and I'll get on it ASAP.
Is this 1 hardy in your zone? I'm hoping it will behave the same as my other hardies.
Mine get so tall, we cut them back 2-3 times in early summer so they don't end up laying on the ground come this time of year. Even after cutting them back, they grow 6-8ft tall and just as wide. I can't wait to see how Texas Star fits in;)
Thanks so much, Jeff
