rooting brug cuttings?

Capistrano Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I have a brug given to me at a RU and it's set buds. the only thing is it's got another offshoot that's just about as big coming from a bottom node. i know i should cut it off to give more energy to the bloom but i can't stand to see plants wasted like that. can anyone advide me on how to root a big brug stem of a "KBS" hybrid? i've never touched my brug other than to prune dead leaves, i'm so scared of hurting it! thanks for any info.

I would imagine the same as any other Brug--cut the piece you want to root, mark it so you remember which end is up and place the bottom of stem in water in a warm place. Some use bubbler system too. I have done it with or without bubbler. So long as the water stays fresh and warm you will have well rooted cutting in about 2 weeks or less. You will know it is rooting when you see the white bumps on the stem!! Have fun!! Bonnie

do i take the leaves off, or leave them on?

Take all but the top growth off. You can also put it in good potting soil, in the shade, and it should root well at this time of the year. This is how I would do it anyway.
