My first ever flush x2!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

I've been out of town for a little over a week, and this is what greeted when I got home this evening!! I've never seen a flush in person, just a couple flowers at a time. It's so pretty!!! I can't believe I was gone for the beginning of it. A lot of the blooms are dead/fading by now.

The one on the left is Isabella, and the other one I'm not completely sure of. It has fuzzy, unserrated leaves, is that a characteristic of one of the darkish/not frosty pinks?

I really was about to throw in the towel...so I needed this!! Susanne

WOW, and you missed the beginning!!! The good news is I bet you get another flush fast. FERTILIIZE!!!!

I think the second one may be EP. Though the neck sure is long. Did you have one of those? Or a Kyle's Pink?

Good show!! CONGRATULATIONS.

NICE! This heat is sure hard on our pink blooms.

Thanks Kell and Hibiscus! I'll get on that fertilizing tomorrow! I'm glad to hear this isn't a one time show. :)

I can't believe I almost missed this! I've had this one for 2 years waiting for blooms and was always under the impression it was a Kyle's Giant White...so maybe I had the Kyle's right but not the color. It was such a surprise to see pink when I was expecting white. Is there a major different besides neck length? Thanks again yall ! Susanne

I do not know how to tell EP and Kyle's Pink apart myself. I see now that your calyx is gone on lots of your blooms. Must be the heat. Next flush will be easier to see what they really look like. Important to see where the calyx ends on the corolla tube.

Yes, fertilize and get those buds going. LOL That is what I am doing madly here.

nice to come home to lovely..

Congrats Susanne.
One of my trial seedlings resented high heat and humidity as well. Fried the tips of her tendrils and sealed edges together during the day so I had to help it get started reopening in the evening.

That's still a nice combo to have blooming together. :)

Thanks Susanne....I had lost a bunch of tags so I wasn't sure which was Isabella...now I know. The cuttings you sent me are so beautiful...with the lovely Isabella blooming.

I had my first flush of EP last month when it was 100 degrees. I left it outside during the flush and my blooms were horrible. They looked like wet pasta after a day in the heat (part sun). I did fertilize on a regular basis since then and I am looking at around 20 buds developing as opposed to my 8 blooms on my first flush. I lost lots of buds too after the first flush at very early stages. That too I believe is heat related. The weather has cooled off considerably but I will be bringing this brug indoors just before the plant blooms. I want to enjoy those puppies. If I want pasta, I'll order out!!

What a fantastic treat to come home to, congratulations!!
They look lucious!

Oh so sorry you missed the begining of the blooms. I hope you have another flush next month. I have noticed that my EP is loaded with buds now. Many others are now setting buds also. Our days have cooled down some and the nights are getting cooler also.
We have lost 2 hrs. of daylight since the end of June. WOw how fast the summer has come and gone.

#2 Looks a lot like my Equador Pink
Congratulations!! ;)

What a wonderful surprise to come home to! I love your versicolor!

Thanks for the nice comments yall! I think I might just stick around for another brug growing season after this. :)

8ft, I think I have some sealed ones too. There are some yellowed buds haning on the Isabella that if I squeeze them they make a loud bang! Reminded me of blowing up brown paper bags when I was little to bug my mom. Into the shade they go!

Glad they're doing well Carol! Grandbaby's good too?

Xeriscape, I had no idea the heat would affect them like this! Granted, I was crossing my fingers that they wouldn't bloom while I was away and that we'd have lots of rain& clouds... But I'm seeing now that the dry Texas heat has no benefit on the blooms like it does the leaves! Yours gives me hope that I will see more soon. lol no one likes pink pasta!!

I think I'm leaning toward EP too Malestrom. The pictures I've seen of Kyle's Pink don't hang quite the same way. I'm going to wait for fresh blooms though. This is one of the cuttings I got from Nestor (I think was her name) off ebay a while back. I got like 18 cuttings for 9 dollars plus shipping. It was far too many sticks for a newbie to label and keep up with! Still looking for a deal like that again.

So true Kin! It has just dissappeared. I remember the horrible case of spring fever I had last winter...I'm dreading it again!

Thanks again yall! Susanne

Nice pictures. The heat has been a big problem this year. Now, we are cool. 63 right now. I hope the blooms will still color up good.

Great picutes, Susanne. You have enough blooms that you're hooked for life now.
