Yep...at least we're hoping! I also have bought a couple noid mini's and some semi mini's that I am going to start this weekend. I'll keep yall posted on how it goes.

Yea it's too bad it didn't work out. :( I will be in town again during Christmas break..I'll definitely let you know!

Wonderful!

Those look good! "Insanobride" -- I love it! I'm glad you're having fun.

I've managed to make 3 tiers in my terrarium (a 40 gallon hexagonal tank). I used one of those coated wire shelf organizers on legs (like people to put a stack of bowls right over their stack of plates in their dish cupboard) for the second layer, and the third layer consists of pots in a muffin tin that's suspended from the aquarium top on little bungie cords. Just a thought....

Most of my minis are still not big enough to donate many leaves, but I'll keep encouraging them to grow some extra foliage for you!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

That's such a good idea critter! I hadn't even thought of making multiple shelves..so much more room! We use those stands in the pantry as well as in our cupboard. Good idea.. Thank you for thinking about me with your mini's. :) Susanne

So Susanne, how are they doing?? Do you have ears yet? I've been thinking about you. :)

Heh, thanks for asking dana. :) No ears yet...but I did get impatient and dig a couple up and they have lots of roots going! lol. I have thrown about 10 pots so far--long way to go! I'm hoping to see some ears in the next week or so, I'll post some pictures!

Great! As long as the leaves are alive and they have roots, the ears will come. I get impatient and dig, too! Ha! I'll be looking forward to pictures. :)

Susanne, you might want to nip the tips off some of your leaves to see if that will speed things up. According to the culture page at Rob's, removing the very tip of the leaf makes the leaf put its energy into growing plantlets rather than into growing itself. I do this sometimes, other times not, but I haven't exactly done a controlled study of it. As Dana said, the ears will come eventually!

Loveland, CO(Zone 5b)

Yes, my grandma does the tip thing, too...

I was going to ask, Critter... how do you ensure that the lower tiers are getting enough light? If I could figure that part out, I'd probably do this! :)

Thanks,

Sarah

My repurposed aquarium is in a corner that gets very bright indirect light, so that doesn't seem to be a problem. I do rotate the pots every few weeks, and it probably helps that the upper tier of pots is in a glass cake pan on a wire rack, so only the pots themselves are blocking the light.

Loveland, CO(Zone 5b)

I have everything under artificial light, so I would probably be too afraid of robbing the lower babies of their "sunshine". I guess I'll have to stick to my current method of recycling drive-thru dinner containers! :) LOL

Thank you for that advice critter. I did that today so we'll see how it works. I'm getting so anxious to see babies! Sorry it took so long to reply !
Sarah I do that too- anything with a clear lid is coming home with me and getting reused! lol ...back to fox to watch Rita, ugh! Susanne

Good luck with Rita :( ... and Bride-zilla :)

Oh, Susanne, you're down there, too! I hope you fare well through the storm. Keep us updated.

I'm okay yall, thank you so much for your thoughts. It is actually my mom and dad, and fiance's parents and whole family that are down there. All got evacuated and are safe. It was really a stressful all week, but very anti-climactic in the end. I'm hoping that everyone else in Houston and Gulf Coast is safe. Have we heard from Ms. C and Patti?

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

yup, patti posted on the other thread and says she talked to MsC. Glad your families are safe.

Heya, Suzanne! How goes the propagating? We need an update!!

And can we convince you to join us for the Secret EB Trade, with all your new minis?

:-D

Silver Spring, MD

Yes! How are things going?

Hi yall, propogating is going good! I have about 85 pots made so far, with about 30 of them with plants happy in them. All my leaves are doing great- I think I have about 60 leaves going...and I'm seeing ears on about half of them. I'm so excited! You all have definitely made this process easier with your generosity- so thank you. I'll try to post some pictures when I get home.

I'm so sad that I haven't been able to get on Daves much recently- I didn't even know about a secret trade! This is my last semester of classes before I student teach next semester and boy is it too much. I've always wanted to do a secret trade, but I think the timing might be a little bad for me on this one. Hopefully next time though.
Thanks for asking yall, I'll try to be around more! And I'll get some pics up.

Hi Susanne,

I miss seeing you here on DG. I hope you and your family are doing well. I wish you and your family happy and safe holiday. Take care sweetie.
Patti

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Yeah, I did think the timing would be a liiiiittle too close to Wedding Day for you to want to deal with it... But I had to ask, LOL!

Hang in there with those final classes. Student teaching will be a blast -- and remember, it's much *better* when you have your own classroom!

Take care, and enjoy the holidays!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

Thanks Jill and Patti, I hope yall have a great holiday as well! I'm excited to go home for a tiny while. I miss being around here so much!

Speaking of wedding day getting close...I got an email from The Knot the other day that said 7 months to go. AH! Crazy. And also, you're all invited- just ask me about the details if you want to come. :)
Susanne
