We are visiting the first week of September coming up through Maine and traveling the coastline from St. Andrew's to Moncton/Sackville tell me your must see/do places! We are foodies and gardeners interested in out-of-the-way places, farmer's markets, wineries, cheesemakers, restaurants and Darrell's market stand in Riverview! :-)
Tell me, who should we see, where, how? Where are the flowers, goats, cows and friendly people?? Actually I find Canada full of friendly people, moreso than the states. Just my opinion for what it is worth.
Thanks!

Visiting New Brunswick
bluekat76, it has been years since I have been to New Brunswick so can't really help you. I did have a great time. Lovely part of the country. Here is the New Brunswick tourism site & it should help you plan your trip. You can email them with any questions you might have.

Make sure you post back & let us know about your trip & hope you get to meet Darrell. You are correct when you say people are very friendly. Have a great trip......Linda
You might also want to find out hours when customs is open. Think I remember some fuss about St. Stephens closing - keeping office hours. Think it was something about time change. Just cannot remember. Know that I've been stuck in Yukon, trying to cross the border after 6.00PM. I do know that the St. Andrews customs is now closed. Strange bits of nonsense that I remember.
If you are camping - there is a wonderful campground run by an indian band between Bar Hrbour and St. Stephens somewhere, right on the water.
Inanda
If you get close enough to the coast, see the bridge to PEI (Confederation Bridge). It's quite a wonder, still fairly new. My husband was an ice engineer working on the plan for it's construction.

Linda- that is a great site, I have been there lots lately and also got the tourist book through the mail.
Inanda - I found a link that tells me the border crossing current wait times. Thanks for bringing it up, I would not have thought to worry about it! We are not camping, staying mostly in B&B's.
Ann- We are planning on seeing the bridge, I say that now but somehow we run out of time staying longer than we had planned. Last year we spent a few days in PEI but we went over on the ferry from NS. Saw the entrance to the bridge - does that count? Maybe this year we will get over it.
Thanks everyone - keep the ideas coming!
Yeah, the poeple are more friendly here than in the states. At least here, when they tell you, "Go take a Hike", they tell it to your face. No flies on us! eh?
Free to go to PEI on the bridge but costs $39 or $40 to get back. They don't get you "coming and going", they only get you "going" LOL
You are in for the shock of your life, coming here to see me. You get to see how a Canadian Hillbilly lives. No inside toilet here. Running water in the kitchen only. Washing machine leaks, so I'm puttin it out in the yard to wash clothes. Prolly should put it "down wind" er is it "Up wind" from the chicken coop. Figure I'll find out once I'm out there. Spin cycle is shot, so I stand in the middle of the garden and "twirl" the clothes over my head. Works great too, when I need to water the garden. Good thang I picked up my teeth at the dentists office, I'll look purdy for ya when you get here. Don't get to close to me though, I still spit a little when I talk. Teeth need adjustin, ah reckon.
Maybe you might want to think it over before you come here. Maybe you can just "throw" those seeds out the windah as ya drive by. Attach the package of seeds to a bottle of "Blue" would ya? Shucks, I'd catch "that" ifin I had to run from one end of the property to the other end.
I'm usually in a very bad mood. So don't count on much chit chat.
Don't ask to use the toilet unless you really need to use it. I'll give you the key to the shed ifin you really gotta go. You might want somethin other than torn out pages of a catalog too. Don't pay no mind to that "Pin Up" calander on the wall. It covers a hole, so, I reckon it's there for your privacy.
Don't let my dogs scare ya either. They only bite once and then let go. Course, havin 20 dogs, might be a problem fer ya.
If yer looking fer a place to bathe, you can use the river. Bring a towel. Had to use mine fer carpet. Got tired of hard wood floors. When it's time to clean the carpet, I take em outside, throw em in the washin machine, then water me garden with em before I throw em on the line.
Ah-yup.....yer in fer a real treat. eh?
If it's ah rainin, don't think goin in the house is gonna keep ya dry. Better off sittin in yer car talkin thru the winder.
I ain't lookin to get hitched. So keep right on ah goin by if that's what ya have in mind. Had me a lady friend once. Had to get rid of her. She kept gettin too much chew on the outside door of me pickup.
No Bread and Breakfast here either. I have one bed and I don't share. Not even when the Queen is in town. Not that she ever asked. But if she did, I'd tell her the same.
Darrell, I didn't realise you were such a hoot.
;)
That is too funny! Seems you are a morning person Darrell.
We were planning on being in Moncton on the 3rd, then we found out the Rolling Stones were coming to town - Magnetic Hill. After a brief discussion about going - they stll have tickets?!? we decided that is not what we wanted to do on our vacation, back to farms, aquaculture and people. We still need to find a room but it probably won't be in Moncton. There is a place down in Sackville call the Marshlands that looks interesting with lots of nice gardens.
Don't be scared when a crazy woman runs up and hugs you:) Maybe that happens so often you are used to it by now?
-Kim
Darrell, it's obvious to me that you have been reading posts from TamaraFaye, heycharlie and Horseshoe from the Veggie forum for too dang long! LOL
Thanks for the Wednesday giggle. :D

the marshlands is fantastic - make sure you stay in the old part (not the new motelly part). And if they are still doing dinner at the marshlands it is worth it.
ROTFLMAO!!!! Darrell, whar y'all bin hidin' that ole funny bone? --Ginny
(Darrell puts his head down, puts his hands in his pocket, shuffles the dirt with his foot, grins and says).....Aw, shucks, twernt nothin.
LOL ;)
jgonjune, we now have reservations for the Marshlands but alas it is in the hotelly part:) They only had the suite $$$$ left in the main house. What can you do. We are staying there 2 maybe 3 nights.
Hey Darrell, would you be willing to tell me exactly where you are so we are not driving around willy nilly looking for the swingset sign?
-Kim
ah well have dinner in the main house and relax and enjoy dining the way it use to be when most people had 'help' and took their preprandial in the drawing room
