Superthrive??

Paris, TX(Zone 8a)

This may sound like a dumb question, but what exactly is superthrive? I've heard the word used repeatedly in this forum, and I'm assuming it's a type of fertilizer. If so, will osomocote do work as well?

ST is a hormone supplement. It doesn't replace fertilizer. Go ahead and use the osmocote in your pots, use the ST when you water. It makes the plants healthier. You can soak cuttings in it to revive them. Hth!

Thanks heather, for the information. Does this mean superthrive can be used for any houseplant, or is it best used with hoyas?

jdee, yes it can be used with any houseplant or even for plants outside (although that could get expensive in a hurry!) I add it to my fertilizer water and also to my mist bottle. I really like it and think it makes a big difference.

They have a website where you can read testimonials, etc.

Jennifer, check Walmart and Home Depot garden area's. The first small bottle I bought lasted well over a year.

Thanks, Susan. I will.

Another dumb question. Will it poison my cats? mixed a drop per gallon, and was watering. I always move my plants from the porch to the concrete walkway to water them, so they can drain without ruining my wood. Anyway, I noticed one of my cats drinking from a puddle that had formed at them end of the way. Will it hurt her?

I'm pretty sure your cats will be fine. If it was that toxic to the plants, we probably wouldn't use it. Well unless we needed a systemic, which ST isn't. I think your meow meow will be fine!

ST is also terrific to use when transplanting ANYTHING from palm trees to hoya starts.

BTW - i was told by a knowledgeable fellow here that ST's patent has run out, and that Hormex is the SAME formula with a rooting hormone added...so it is not only cheaper, but it has the rooting hormone.

I was once told that if you don't have ST and receive a batch of cuttings, use a B vit. pill and a birthcontrol pill. Great advice for someone my age!!! Birthcontrol pills?

Carol, I've heard you can use a C-vit pill too... and I heard it from a lady almost your age!

MY age....HAHAHAHA. YOU should be so lucky HAHAHA. You are simply young, tall, with gorgeous long red hair, smart, capable, sensitive, intuitive, intelligent.... AND you have a darling new kitten named Simpson! Just wait....heh heh heh!

I wasn't thinking of myself... but I hope to get there some day! No names, but it was R_si_a who told me about C-vit...

You're right, Simpson is the cutest!
