After 4 months of "babying" my first 4 plummie stalks, I am seeing one of them with an itsy-bitsy flower stalk. Yippy!!!! BUT, I am leaving for a 10 day trip Sept 1 and I am afraid it is going to bloom while I am away!!! Boo-hoo!!! How long do the blooms last?? I am so bummed I might miss it :( I will have to ask my friend who will be taking care of my cats to take pictures of it. Ugh......
I can't believe it....
If I want to take some cuttings for my desk at work, is there a right way and a wrong way, and how long will they last in water?? Do I cut just the individual flower stem?? I have a real neat vase I bought in Santa Fe on vacation. It is only about 3 inches long and about 1 inch high made out of ceramic. It is one piece. It has little holes on top to insert flower stems and the water. I will be great I think for plummie flowers!!
CaCajun, you can either cut the whole stem once it has developed buds, or you can pick the individual flowers and place them in a tiny vase or a bowl of water. There are plumeria rings available which people often use. Here is one such ring below. I think your vase that you got in Santa Fe will be perfect for individual flowers.
Wow, the ring is cool!
I know what you're talking about with the Santa Fe vase. I saw them at a local craft fair. They have the spikes down in the hole to stab into the stem of the flower, right? I loved the vases, but they were too expensive for me :( I hope they work out well with your plumies :)

These vases don't have those. They just have itsy-bitsy holes on the top to insert the flower into. Since it is all one piece, it also holds the water inside as well. I will try to remember to send a picture.
