I was more excited than any kid when I saw this. I rushed to get my camera and started snapping pictures afraid it would fly away although it was still light outside.

Put a black light out at night like a bug zapper light and you should get a number of those and those other big moths that I can't think of the name right now. .... Silkmoth that's it. they are to big for a bug zapper so you don;t risk hurting any of them if you have one. I just use a zapper that has been de-zapped I've got no beef with moths and I have cedar lined closets LOL But when I'm wanting to have a nature class for the kids or there friand I put one out and I get all kinds of things I don't get with a regular white light. Kinda fun ... I refuse to grow up.
I second that... always keep the kid in me smiling!!

Gee Wiz is that thing neat!
It's just beautiful! I have never seen one of these, but have had a cocoon of a relative (Indian Moon Moth) and was just overjoyed when it hatched! The first time I see one in my yard my neighbors will be wondering WHAT all the excitement is over here! :)
Wow!
Congratulations!
you don't see one of THOSE everyday!

She was excited as a cheerleader when she saw it!
Talking about surprises... a couple of weeks ago, Judy was watering her hanging baskets (she only has 60) and when she got to an asparagus fern, a wren flew out. She had me check it out and sure enough, the nest had 5 eggs. She avoided that basket since then. All the eggs hatched and the fledglings have found their wings so everything is back to normal (except she doesn't want to move the nest... there's always next year.)
Judy, you can pull the nest out if you want to. Believe me, If they decide to use that basket again, they will just rebuild! I have lost more than one plant because I couldn't water it. But the little darlings are worth it!
