The first one I'd say is some sort of Xantosoma.
sagittifolium?
Second looks like a young 'Magic' or 'Runner'.
The third looks like Colocasia 'Big Dipper' but w/ a green stem.

That is a good thing you did not loose them completely. Love the looks of #1 & #4. Very nice!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 4a)

Wow....their all lovely! All ones I don't have....lol. Luv the last one especially.

Dick, can I ask what your temperatures and soil are like that they are coming up so late? I bet you are thrilled to see them! I try to drag mine out of their winter slumber in March so I have something besides a root to stick out in may. LOL That's a lot easier when you have them in pots.

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

BadSeed do you get called BS by any chance ? :-)
we would normally have high 80 to 90 degree weather July Aug & Sept
& sometimes 1 to 3 days over 100 but
we have had an un-usually cool summer this year
this Aug has been in the mid 70's & just getting up into the 80's
a lot of my plants are just now coming up - really late for the season

Rik
i checked my records for last years purchases
i only bought 2 Xanthosomas (blue stem & one called unknown odd leaf)
i have the blue stem tagged so this must be the unknown
& after searching i find it looking most like young of X. jacquinii lineatum or X. lindenii

Rik
i have Black magic growing from the same pot
& this one is a leaf in shade from same plant which is why it looks different :-)
what is "Runner" ? & "big dipper" ?

Dick

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

Strever, now that somebody mentions it, I think I have seen the plant in your very first pix featured as a xanth. something. "something" really strong clue, huh?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Are you calling me BS? ROTFLOL Hmm, wouldn't be the first time I have heard it. :)

I am always jealous of those high zones. It was not until recently that I learned that living in those high zones can sometimes swich how your season work compared to here in zone 6. Come June here, we zip up into the 80s and 90s and it does not cool down until late in September. Most years annuals are still pumping along in October and November.

We sometimes get freak 80s as early as March and are still getting snow on Easter. ICK!!

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

Michele, Mich or Chele
i just couldn't resist that :-)

The first one is Xanthosoma jeoquinii, one of my favorite ears. The second one looks like Black Magic, the leaves don't get the nice purple color if they're shaded.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Looks like you have a lot there Dick. I hope you get them all named.

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

those were the ones i wasn't sure of
all of them are in this pict

Dick,
'Black Runner' is a variant of 'Magic'.
It runs and rarely pups and has a very slight edge difference.
'Big Dipper' is a violet stem Colocasia w/ a cupped leaf.

http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/54731/

In a rain it will fill up and then dip due to the weight.
I got it several years ago from a dealer in Louisville.
I haven't seen it for sale much which is odd as it pups and runs faster than any C. e. I've ever grown.

BS likens it to a bamboo fountain.
(BS..........hmmmmm..............lol!)

I gotta agree w/ Xanthosoma jeoquinii.
Agristarts is doing so much these days odds are it's one of theirs.

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

soooo BS ;-) is thinking about a Japanese garden
the bamboo fountain is a shishi odoshi, or 'deer scarer'
here is a howto article to build one http://www.canadianhomeworkshop.com/weekend/shishi_odoshi.shtml
Rik
i did empty the water out of the green stem esculenta to take the picts
but it's not as deep as yours so maybe it's a "little green dipper" :-)

Dick

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Are you boys making fun of me? LOL They do remind me of those bamboo fountains! I could have sang "I'm a little tea pot" but left that alone. :)

Dick, that garden is absolutely beautiful (even if you are being mean to me. LOL). What is the ferny plant with the light stripe?

Crestview, FL(Zone 7b)

Dick... what a nice collection of ee's you have!! Beautiful garden :)

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

Michele
thank you
that is called a silver brake fern ?
http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/60943/index.html
it does very well here, they are on their 3ed year & are over 4 ft tall now
pretty aren't they ? i don't know if i can take some of the roots as a division or not
they are readily available in the nurseries here in SoCalif.

Dick

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

thanks Trish

i think i like the Aroids a lot
they are easier then some other plants i have :-)
i'm planning on a LARGE tropical area with lots of EE's near the pond up north

Ooooooh! I wish I lived in a warmer zone! Thanks for the info. The fern is lovely as is the whole garden.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Wow what a setting! Gorgeous view!

Well now I know what to get Chele as a house-warming present.
I have a smaller version called Pteris cretica 'Mayi'.
I'm pretty sure the brakes can be divided.

Strever is that an Oxalis down in the right corner?

Ric

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

Rik
in the bottom right hand corner the big plant is a
Spathiphyllum, commonly called Peace Lily
behind it & not showing very well are
Rhektophyllum Mirabile & Philodendron Gloriosum
next to them is a spotted leopard Farfugium japonicum
& to the left of that is a philodendron McDowelii
then there are some additional EE's in there also
i don't what an Oxalis is ?
did i get the one you were asking about ?
here is a close up of the area in front of the fountain

Dick

Thumbnail by Strever
Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Gonna have to get a Farfugium just so I can say it. LOL

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Dick,
I'm sorry I meant the pond picture.
Clover looking plant in the right lower corner.

Those philodendrons are both great looking plants though!
That Rhektophyllum Mirabile is a new one to me. Nice!

Ric

Hiouchi, CA(Zone 8b)

Rik
yes it is, the locals call it Elk Sorrel
here is a better close up of the lower right hand corner
Enid is offering the Rhektophyllum Mirabile under the old Synonym
http://naturalselections.safeshopper.com/132/cat132.htm?639
but i just saw it on Ebay tonite for a buyit $18.00
