This is one of the first seedlings you sent me, it is 5' tall but still no Y. I had to strip lots of leaves yesterday due to the fact we had a BAD STORM with over 3" of RAIN and a lot of my Brug leaves turned yellow.
KELL, how much taller
Some input ...............
I've had some seedlings grow 8 to 10 ft before Y-ing , yet some Y at 3 or 4 ft.
Guess you can only wait n' see ;-)
Doris, I'm with Scoot. Right now I've got a 7 foot seedling with no Y. I just had one under four feet bloom, and is already covered in buds again. Yours looks so healthy and the foliage is so pretty - who is she???
It is amazing the difference between all my seedlings too. Some are 8' tall & just "Y"ed & others are short & already bloomed. I have one cross Firstday X Rosabelle (5 seedlings) that 4 are tall like trees
(7-9') & one is shorter like a bush. One takes the heat very well & one droops badly. It is interesting to watch these evolve.
I have one Wiskers cross & not a bug touches it. It's right in the Brug forest with the others that get mites & earwigs. So strange.

Doris, watch the leaf nodes. When they get close together, it will Y soon. If you notice....from the bottom of the stalk to the top of it....the leaves are getting closer together. Check one of your already Y'd brugs to see how close the leaf nodes were when it Y'd. There could be a little difference, but it will give you an idea of what to look for.
Oh, you are SO observant! I didn't notice that, but you are right, all be darned! TeeHee!

You know, Brugie, I noticed the leaves do that, but I didn't know what it meant, tho Ys do follow the leaves cozying up. Thanks for the info!!! Glad to see you on the forum. So hot here you could fry an egg on the top of the car, whew!!!
Gee thanks Brugie, you always give me good advice *S* I went out and checked, the last five leaf nodes are very close.
I am not sure of the name, on the tag it had EW XLA I am hoping kell will fill it in.
I too have some only 8 and 12 inches tall that have bloomed and I have one over 6' that have not Yd. she will be a gonna when the weather gets cold.

I hope it Ys for you soon Doris. Its so hard waiting. I had some of these seedlings this year, "Larry's Enchanted Double White x L'Amour" maybe thats what yours are? Mine sadly didnt make it.
No fair, your seedlings are bigger than mine!!! Mine are so slow this year. I let most of the year slip by with no fertilizer. I was in a daze. I can't believe I can feel fall in the air so soon.
It must be EDW X L'A. I have had a bunch of those bloom for me that I grew out last summer. All are double whites though if they last awhile, some start to turn peach. Then I had one seedling bloom last week that were peach by the second day. I am sure hoping some of my pollinations take.
If you get a double white, cross it with a yellow or orange that are known to make colored babies, and I bet you get a dark double orange as a result.
Thanks kell, I was pretty sure that was the cross, I hope it blooms befor winter as it is way to big to dig up, I may have to wait untill the last chance then cut the top off and root it in the house.
On the crosses I sent out tons of seeds from, I made computer labels. But some I did by hand and more than a few people have asked me to decipher. I best slow down I guess. LOL
kell this one definatly had E W X LA on a 'blind' tag. there could have been a D in there *S*
I am too lazy to go check my list for what I sent to you, Doris. We just got back from brunch and I am so stuffed.
Here is one of my EDW X L'A seedlings. Even though I was bad on watering and fertilizing this year, it is so floriferous. I wish this one was home for I would pollinate it and see if the next generation could be a double pink or orange. The L'A can give orange or pink I have found, so it would be interesing to see the next set of offspring if you pollinate it with a strong pink or strong orange one.
she is lovely.
I do not have any blooming right now but my Isobella, and snow cone are loaded again with buds, and as far as I can tell none of the pollinating took, I bet it was because it was so hot, it cooled of some but right back up there again.
