I saw this one in my Logee's catalog. Made my heart flitter :) I love the leaves and the flower color. They say it smells like Mocha.
What is your opinion of this one?
H. carnosa 'Crispa variegata'
This is actually H. compacta variegata or I have seen it as H. carnosa compacta.....
It was my first hoya. Try a local garden center or greenhouse. Maybe even Lowe's or Home Depot. You should be able to find pots of this for no more than 3.95.
Watch for mealie bugs as it's known to be a mealy bug maternity ward.
Easy to grow and bloom.
I have several hoya I purchased from Logees and they have been very healthly.
I bought Hoya odorata which is actually H.cembra, and H. fungii which I don't see on their list anymore.
I have bought hoyas from Logees as well and have been happy with them. The only thing is, they are very small plants to start with (2 & a half to 3 inch pots). Hoya compacta is one that is very slow growing. I still have one in a 3 inch pot that I got from Norma 2 years ago, and it is only one inch more in growth than when I got it. However, if you can find one in a nursery or Home Depot, they are usually big plants already and not very much more money.
You can also find large ones on Ebay, but those are more expensive to get.
It is a beautiful plant. I have mine in a self watering pot that I keep full as I have found this one does not like to dry out as much as other carnosas. It also loves to be misted and looks much better for it. Mine has bloomed once this summer, but I have hopes for more.

Thanks you two! I need to really pay attention when I go to Home Depot from now on ... and I love Logees and ebay! Collecting Hoyas is going to be fun. There's soooooo many to choose from.
