Are these nematodes?

I hate to hear it, but what are these nodules on the roots of my sunburst passiflora? I just dug it from a large pot to move it to the shade.

They could be the result of root-knot nematodes. Was the plant deteriorating? Are there sections of dead roots? The nematodes themselves are so small you will need a microscope to see them.

If you do have nematodes probably you could root cuttings of your plant.

Here is a link with a picture of root-knot nematodes http://ucce.ucdavis.edu/files/filelibrary/5253/4273.jpg

Yes, the vine went from gorgeous to very poor when the heat wave started. I just assumed that it couldn't take the temps. I just got around to digging it. Yes, some of the roots were rotted.
Sunburst is hard to root. I tried twice but nothing took.
Thanks.
