HAVE: Moonflower Datura plants - hardy in zone 7+

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

I'm revamping a terrace garden and it is loaded with moonflower datura shrubs. Some of these are 5 feet tall, full of blooms. But I've got to move them. They have outgrown the area and are sprawled across my pathway. I would like to trade them for something I'm looking for. I will have to cut them way back to ship, but there's still time for them to bush back out and even flower this season.

I've found them to be hardy here in my zone 7a. The SAME plant DOES come back from the root. It also makes an abundance of seed pods and is easy to start from seeds. The blooms are about 7" inches long, 6" in diameter, stark white, nightblooming, and very fragrant--like honeysuckle or jasmine. The scent fills the night air. Each year, the shrubs get bigger and bushier. They are one of my favorite plants. I have many scattered throughout my gardens, but these in this area must go. They are toxic if any part of the plant or seeds are injested by human or beast, so be warned.

I'd love to trade for named daylilies, named irises, named elephant ears or other unusual perennials. I am not looking for tropicals or houseplants. I would also trade for Donna Dewberry and Bob Ross paint supplies, books and videos that I don't have, as well as DVDs in the thriller (not horror), romance, comedy, and drama categories.

I have other plants to trade too. Just check out my post a little further down the page. Thank you for looking.

Mitch, I will have TONS of moonflower seeds. I'll be happy to send you some. I'll add you to my list for when I gather. Please be aware that they are highly toxic and can be fatal if ingested by human or animal. But if grown responsibly, they are just beautiful! I get so many comments on them when they bloom.

Gail was just here tonight helping me dig daylilies, and we walked by a moonflower bush. The blooms on it were JUST beginning to unfurl. And she had to stop for 5 minutes and watch the process. You can literally watch the big blooms move as they very slowly open and release their fragrance. This plant definitely has a place in my gardens for years to come.

I'll save ya some seeds!
