I woke up this morning to my first bloom on H. montana. What a lovely flower. No noticable scent but there were cool beads of nectar.
H. montana blooms!
Wow that is just beautiful!!
Blessings,
Awanda
They're both gorgeous.
Doncha love H. montana!!!! It and H. ischnopsus have the loveliest blooms!
I keep missing my H. glabra blooms...I see them just before they open and then rush up to where it is a couple of days later and....poof...they are falling on the ground. OH well...if it is happy and blooming, that is OK by me!!!
Carol
Beautiful! I have a montana coming soon. Glad now I ordered it.
Congrats also on catching that gorgeous bloom on the finlaysonii. Looks like you have another coming below it. Better stay posed with the camera on ready. Ha Ha. I love those plants for the foliage, but the bloom is spectacular also. Too bad it doesn't stay around a bit longer. :-(
I have a night blooming epiphyllum that I had to go out late at night with a flashlight to take pictures and smell the perfumy fragrance of it. By morning the blooms were just limp and hanging. If I hadn't known it was about to bloom, I would have missed it completely. I guess to enjoy some of these things, you just have to "be there" when it's ready....or else. Ha.

Both of them are lovely, Susan.
Congratulations on the blooms!
Heather
The all yellow bloom on the Montana is very beautiful.....they both are very nice.....nice growing....
Sandy
Gee, that's lovely! Looks like it's made of porcelain. Very nice. :)
They are both lovely. The yellows are so pretty. Guess I'll add montana on to my wish list. I had the plant several years ago, guess I need to give it a try again. Deb
Anyone notice the clarity difference in these photos versus the junky ones I normally post?
Thanks to my Mom I have a new camera.
Lovely pictures Nightbloomer! :D
Marcy, I missed both the blooms on my night blooming cereus recently. Could have kicked myself. I didn't even notice the buds until they were a few days from opening. Everything other than the hoya are like "stepchildren" to me. Then I forgot about it again and the next time I went to look at the buds they were spent.
Looks like H. Montana is going on my "have to have" list. It is a beauty!! I am not sure how I am going to like some of the short bloomers. After waiting so long to see them bloom and then have them gone....... I like things I can sit and enjoy!

Oh that finlaysonii is very beautymuss.!! Geeze I might have to get one of those too. When does the insanity stop??
Carol- any suggestions on how I can control my glabra? I don't have a green house any more and he is getting to huge. My bamboo is always tipping in the pot. I may have to trade him out. What was I thinking? I'm afraid one of these mornings he will have me around the neck!
Lovely photo. I didn't used to like montana, but after seeing your photo, i think I've changed my mind! Very subtle coloring, and it looks super shiny. Does it have a very faint greenish tinge? Or is that just my imagination...
Tami - you must have a very happy H. glabra. No idea how to control it...more hoops? I just keep winding mine back upon itself but once in a while it pounces on the tree and starts to climb up and uP and UP. I don't think H. glabra is one of the best for indoor growing!!!
H. ischnopus is another yellow flowered one with flowers that LAST and a constant bloomer for me...similar leaves.
So many hoyas...so little room.... sigh.
Both are lovely...sigh.
:) Donna
SUSAN - OMG...I just went to your H. montana bloom and it is...well...incredible. Those little drops of nectar, the light...it is SO clear. You must be so happy with your new camera. Keep track of your photos...I may want to use some!!!!
