Question about my fiddlefig plant

Muskegon, MI(Zone 5a)

This plant was growing wonderful this spring and now its dropping leaves big time..the leaves get yellow and drop.Do they take lots of water or maybe our heat this summer in the house?...Im so upset since a friend gave this to me before she moved..this plant has sentimental value...judy

Have you let it get really dry, then watered it again? Not keeping it too wet? They like even moisture, no wet feet but not bone dry or they lose leaves. Have you checked for bugs like spider mites or scale?

Suzi, I think it got too dry..I was afraid of that....its been so hot here in Michigan and my house was very hot...not enough water to the plant either I think..do you think it will recover?...Ive checked for bugs, there arent any....Judy

It should recover as long as it wasn't dry for too long. Are the tips of the branches still good?

mid central, FL(Zone 9a)

ive found that growing outside they tend to shed big time. mine was about 14 ft. tall when i last saw it (moved) and at least 3/4 up there was no leaf. its a tree after all and doesnt want to remain a bush! LOL debi

Suzie, I think it will be ok with the green leaves that are still green...the tips on some are brown but not withered..maybe more branches will come out of other areas...I never did know if it should be wet all the time or just let it dry and then water....Judy
